Chapter 458: Difference in Abilities

The display of skills in the village square came to an abrupt halt thanks to the thunderous sound of Aeris’s powerful magic.

As expected, the noise was so loud that those involved had to step in to stop it.

The group on the Kingdom Of Sart side, led by the crown prince, was in the midst of a meeting over their travel plans while dining, but the sudden flash of lightning and loud roar caused quite a stir, some even spitting out their drinks in shock.

The crown prince himself let out a strange yelp “Eep!” as he toppled over backward in his chair, making it quite difficult for those around him to pretend they hadn’t seen or heard anything.

“Wh-Wh-What in the world is going on!?”

The prince, trying to hide his discomfort, tried to ask his subordinates, but failed.

After a short while, one of the royal guards came in to report.

“Some members of the Saintess’s entourage were showing off their skills in a corner of the square, and it seems one of them used a powerful magic spell, causing quite a commotion!”

“That sound was from magic!? I see. Tell them to keep it down so as not to startle others around,”

the crown prince managed to calm down a bit once he understood the cause and gave instructions to the guard.

“It must have been the commoner female mage skilled in lightning magic, who is accompanying us as one of the entourage. I recommended her. I thought she could become a valuable asset to the magical guild in the future, but at this rate, she might be an immediate asset!”

The prince’s subordinate offered in an attempt to promote himself as the person who recommended her.

“It might just be light and sound magic, but it sure does make a big impact!”

Another subordinate chimed in, adding some teasing commentary rather than being straightforward and admitting it.

“What! The martial artist you recommended is so plain that they barely stand out at all!”

The subordinate who had nominated the female mage shot back angrily at the rude remark.

“Hmph! I’ll have you know that the martial artist I recommended has already made a name for themselves. They won the youth division at the martial arts tournament held in the royal capital last time by a landslide!”

While the Crown prince’s subordinates went back-and-forth showcasing the candidates they had recommended, Tauro and his companions in the square found themselves on the receiving end of a complaint from a nearby royal guard.

“You went a bit overboard, Lady Aeris. Fortunately, the crown prince’s only warning was to keep it to a minimum, so it should be fine…”

“Ahaha… sorry about that. I realize I may have overdone it too.”

Aeris also hadn’t expected her full-strength magic to have this much power, so she apologized to the Royal Knight, a familiar face who had come to warn her.

“Now it’s my turn, right, Lord Tauro?”

This time, Zion, who had been quietly wearing her hood, stepped forward.

“zion, are you going to do it too? — Is there anyone here confident in their martial arts?”

The commoner entourage members exchanged glances at Tauro’s assertive words, recognizing him as the one in complete charge of the situation.

There was one young man who raised his hand.

“I’m confident in my abilities!”

Then, a tall, muscular young man who seemed to pride himself on his physical strength stepped forward.

“Are you sure? Martial arts injuries heal slowly since healing potions don’t work as well on them. You have to use healing magic along with them, which takes time,” Tauro asked, presuming the martial arts young man would get hurt.

“I won first place at last year’s martial arts tournament in the royal capital, so rather than worry about me, you should be more concerned about that little half-beastman!”

The martial artist seemed to think Tauro’s words was a provocative tactic and retaliated with a smirk, pushing back with bravado.

“is it okay then? — Alright, Zion, don’t use your ‘Berserk’ ability and go easy on him a bit,”

Tauro said, sizing up the martial artist and concluding that zion was stronger, so he urged her to hold back.

“I’m going to go all out, you know? I’m not the type to go easy on anyone.”

The martial artist took Tauro’s remarks as another provocation, twitching his temple as he fought to contain his irritation.

“Then let’s get started. — Both of you, please step forward. — Ready… Begin!”

Under Tauro’s direction, the two faced each other as the sparring match commenced.

As soon as it started, The martial artist closed in on Zion with surprising swiftness and swung a punch straight at her face.

Zion deftly parried the punch with her left hand, while at the same time, delivering a light strike to the young man’s solar plexus with her right fist.

“Guh!”

The young man grimaced in response to Zion’s beautiful defense and counterattack, but as a tournament champion, he wasn’t fazed and tried to grab Zion’s hood with his left hand to throw her.

However, Zion grabbed his left wrist with her left hand and twisted it lightly.

With the sudden pain in his twisted wrist, the young man was unable to maintain his balance and easily sank to his knees on the ground.

In that moment, zion delivered a gentle right cross to the young man’s jaw.

He then collapsed, unconscious, with his eyes rolling back in his head.

“The match is over. The counter to the solar plexus caused internal damage, severe sprain to the left wrist, a fractured jaw—could Anyone with healing magic please help treat him?”

Tauro calmly announced his analysis of the injuries and, along with a young healing mage who rushed over, began treating the martial artist with healing potions.

“The members of the noble group are really that amazing…”

“I was bragging about being a part of this group, but now I’ve lost all confidence…”

“I was planning to show off too, but I think I’ll pass…”

The commoner entourage members, overwhelmed by the staggering difference in abilities between them and Tauro and the others, their own peers, fell into a state of shock and lost their confidence.
