Chapter 39: Results Announcement and the Whole Story
When I returned from the runway, everyone was just staring at me in stunned silence.
(They’re all mad at me for doing that, right…)
“I’m sorry, everyone! I did something weird at the end…”
I immediately bowed my head in apology.
Then, everyone suddenly gathered around me.
“F-Fiveori Iori-chan!! Do that to me too!!”
“C-Could you do it for me as well, perhaps!?”
“For Keina too—Keina too!!”
“W-Would you do it for me as well…? Maybe…?”
(Wait, what? This reaction is totally different from what I expected! They’re trying to embarrass me by making me do it again, aren’t they…!)
“S-Sorry, but I’m never doing that again, seriously! Please just forgive me!!”
““““Eh!?””””
Everyone froze with shocked expressions.
(Wait… did they actually want me to do it…?)
“Everyone, the final stage is over, so it’s time to announce the results! Please make your way to the stage!”
Tarumi-san called out to us.
“Hey, they’re announcing the results! Let’s go!”
“Yeah…”
“Indeed…”
“Mhm…”
“Mmm…”
For some reason, everyone seemed kind of down as I somehow managed to get them moving toward the stage.
MC:
“Now, we will announce the results of the 36th Tokyo Teens Girls Collection! The winning brand this time is…”
Among the many models lined up on stage, I was standing there too, still in my show outfit. My mind was full of that last embarrassing moment.
(Everything was going well until I ruined it… sigh, I really messed up…)
MC:
“The winning brand, by an overwhelming margin ahead of second place, is… ‘V’s’! Staying true to the theme of ‘Variation,’ they showcased constant change as the models walked, entertaining both the audience and viewers alike. Congratulations to ‘V’s’!”
(Sigh… so the winner is V’s—wait, V’s!? V’s!?!!?!)
“Eeeeeeeeeeeeehhhhhhhhhhhhh!?!?!?!”
Realizing the result, I couldn’t help but scream.
Everyone around turned to look at me.
(Sorry for being so loud…)
I bowed my head.
MC:
“And now we’ll move right on to the MVP award, given to the most voted model! And the MVP is… Fiveori Iori-chan!!”
(Fiveori Iori-chan? Wow, MVP… That’s amazing. Beating out Keina, Asuka-san, Suzu-chan, even Himeji-san? Who is this Fiveori Iori-chan anyway… wait.)
“Eh—EHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!? M-ME!?!?!?!?”
MC:
“Oh my, is Fiveori Iori-chan one of those ‘boku-girls’? How cute!”
Once again, I lost it from the shock. I accidentally referred to myself as “boku,” but the MC covered for me by calling it a character quirk. That was a lifesaver.
But wait… it’s really me?! I mean, I’m a guy!!
MC:
“Now then, would the members of V’s please come forward!”
We stepped forward to receive our award.
MC:
“It seems the designer isn’t present, so we’ll present the trophy to Fiveori Iori-chan as the representative and MVP! Along with the trophy, we’re awarding a cash prize of one million yen and a trip to Okinawa! There’s also a separate MVP trophy, so please accept that as well. Lastly, Fiveori Iori-chan, a few words, please!”
I accepted the trophies in both hands. They were heavy.
Thinking that this was what it felt like to be recognized by someone, a wave of joy welled up inside me.
“A-A few words? Ahem… Right. Thank you so much to everyone who voted! I’m truly happy that you all enjoyed the show. I also want to thank my friends who supported me, and everyone involved in the Girls Collection. Thank you very much!”
MC:
“Let’s give them a big round of applause!!”
With a crown on my head and trophies in both hands, I stood basking in the happiness. Everyone else was smiling too, holding their prizes.
Finally, we took a commemorative photo with all the models against the backdrop of the audience, marking the end of the Girls Collection.
After the event, we returned to the waiting room.
“Phew, it’s over.”
“Keina don’t fall asleep on the couch like that—we still need to go home.”
I scolded Keina, who had plopped down on the sofa the moment we entered the room.
“But there’s still something that bothers me.”
“Yeah, the plagiarism accusation and the missing two models.”
“Right… I’m worried.”
Yes, although the Girls Collection had safely concluded, there were still unresolved issues.
As we were pondering this, the waiting room door burst open without even a knock.
“You people!? You stole my clothing designs, didn’t you!?!?”
Storming in with sweat on her brow and fury in her voice was Mika-san.
“We were going to ask you the same thing. That’s your doing, isn’t it?”
“Go-kun made those designs. And the quality was leagues above yours, wasn’t it?”
“Guh… I’ll admit, the quality may have been better…”
Mika-san made a bitter face.
“Not just the quality, but you didn’t have the gimmick either, did you?”
“I didn’t have any gimmick either… To think you’d resort to such cheap tricks… Don’t tell me! You’re the ones who tampered with my heels to make me fall, aren’t you!?”
The conversation suddenly took a wild turn, and I no longer had any idea what she was talking about.
“Uh, that was your own fault, wasn’t it…?”
“We didn’t do anything.”
“That’s just because you got fat, ma’am.”
“K-Keina-san!”
While Himeji and Takarazuka seemed hesitant to speak, Keina said what should not have been said. Tarumi tried to stop her, but it was too late.
“Eeeek! Did you just call me fat!? W-Well, maybe I gained just a tiny bit of weight, but that shouldn’t be enough to make me fall!”
“You didn’t gain just a tiny bit—that’s why you fell, ma’am. Take a look in the mirror, or better yet, go read today’s comments.”
Keina taunted Mika like never before. She must’ve been really angry about the plagiarism.
“Eeeeeek! You called me an old lady again! I won’t forgive this, absolutely unforgivable!!”
Just as Mika tried to lunge at Keina—
“Excuse us!! Sorry for the wait!!”
“Sorry we’re late!”
The two models who were supposed to be in the show appeared in the dressing room. They had brought four men with them—one of whom was tied up and being carried by the other three.
What was going on? Wait… those three guys are…?
“You two are safe!? We were so worried since we couldn’t get in touch! What on earth happened!?”
Tarumi ran up to them.
“This man pretended to be a taxi driver and tried to stop us from getting to the GalColle show! But Kongou-san, Raita-san, and Fuuta-san saved us! Thanks to them, we finally made it here…”
I recognized those names.
“Huh? I knew it was Kongou and the others!”
“Nice to meet you, lovely young lady. I’m Kongou.”
“Kongou! It’s me, it’s me!”
“Me…? Wait… that voice—Sakasegawa-san!? Why are you dressed like that?”
Kongou looked shocked when he realized it was me.
“Well, that’s a long story… I’ll tell you another time. But how did you guys end up here?”
Rather than talking about myself, I wanted to hear their story first.
“Well… we were doing waterfall training in the mountains to strengthen our spirits and become true men, but then we saw a suspicious taxi, and something seemed off, so we went to check it out.”
“When we busted in and caught the guy, the girls said they had to get to something called GalColle, so we rushed here on motorbikes. We couldn’t just leave the guy, so we brought him too. Guess we didn’t make it in time, though.”
“Raita, you shouldn’t talk to Sakasegawa-san like that…”
“It’s fine, Fuuta. So that’s what happened… Thanks, everyone.”
“It’s thanks to you, Sakasegawa-san, that we changed our ways and started helping people. So there’s no need to thank us.”
I more or less understood the situation now, but there was still one thing I didn’t get:
(Why were those two targeted?)
“Aren’t you Atsushi Nishiwaki!? Where have you been after ditching GalColle!? I lost in a design you made, you know!?!”
Mika furiously confronted the tied-up man.
(I see… it’s all starting to make sense…)
We roused the unconscious, bound man and forced him to explain everything.
According to Nishiwaki, he couldn’t come up with a design that satisfied Mika and, feeling cornered, he stole a design from another atelier.
That design happened to be mine. Since I was working on it during this season, he feared it might actually appear in GalColle, so he stole confidential brand and model information from the organizers. Sure enough, it was entered—and he realized the brand he had plagiarized from would be featured.
Thinking the show wouldn’t happen if there were missing models, Nishiwaki posed as a taxi driver outside the modeling agency’s dorm, picked up the two girls, and drove them far away.
Apparently, he intended to let them go after the show.
It turned out Mika hadn’t ordered him to do any of this—it was all Nishiwaki acting on his own.
After hearing the full story, we contacted the authorities, and Nishiwaki was taken away by the police.
With both the cause of the plagiarism and the whereabouts of the two missing models finally clear, we were relieved.
And just like that, the dramatic GalColle truly came to an end.
