Chapter 106: Growing bigger every day

“How should I put it, it felt pretty rough.”

Looking at the recorded results… there is no record of any particular person losing badly.

However, none of the battles were at a level where we could earn money.

“Hey, Ishud. Was there any point in doing a tag battle?”

“I feel the same as that idiot over there.”

(Ha ha ha!!! As expected, this part got heated.)

Just as Ishud predicted, the pair of Philip and Michela lost quite easily.

“There is a point. In a few days, we will move to real combat. Compared to other people of your generation, you guys are a head or two above, but the monsters around our territory are stronger than the same ones in other regions.”

“Ishud-kun, is that really true?”

“It’s seriously true. Since I entered the academy, I’ve been hunting with Gulf and the others on my days off, so I can say for sure without a doubt.”

“Is that because of the monsters that live around this territory?”

“Well, probably. There are a lot of monsters living around here, so they might have simply gotten stronger on their own by surviving the competition.”

“I see… So, even if it’s a place chosen by Ishud-kun, it seems like we’ll have to encounter and fight monsters together many times.”

“That’s right. President Senpai, you catch on quick, that helps.”

Christille and Ibuki were good at adjusting to their tag partner’s movements, no matter who they were paired with.

Philip and Gulf, on the other hand, seemed to struggle due to their occupations which made their movements appear heavy… they were just okay.

(They weren’t terrible, but Dustin-senpai and big boobs felt a bit off.)

By the way, the twins from the Regula family, Waltz… When paired with Lyune, they had no issues at all. In previous tag battles, Lyune, who arguably understood Waltz best, paired with him, making their combination look perfect.

However, Waltz didn’t perform as smoothly when paired with Gulf and the others. On the other hand, Lyune had frequently supported Waltz in past training and battles, so her support skills shone even when paired with Gulf and the others.

“Well then, shall we eat for now?”

Despite the fatigue, their muscle pain had somewhat subsided, making the walk to the cafeteria manageable.

“…Hey, Ishud.”

“What is it?”

“When fighting in a tag team, what’s important to think about?”

Gulf had no doubts about the training but lacked knowledge on tag battles, so he was just barely managing by trial and error.

“…What is important to think about, huh?”

“Eh?”

A genuine “Eh?” escaped his lips.

“Well, I’ve mostly fought alone until now.”

“R-right, that’s true.”

“But… I guess there were times when I fought in a tag team? Though I wasn’t consciously focusing on anything specific.”

While saying this, he desperately tried to recall what he paid attention to during the rare tag battles he participated in.

“…It might be important to be aware of your surroundings.”

“Like knowing where everyone is?”

“That’s it! Knowing where your allies are, what they’re trying to do, and what the enemies you’re facing are trying to do. If you can grasp that instantly, I think you can fight without any issues.”

“So, Ishud, how did you develop that sense?”

“Even if you ask me how… I’ve had to fight against multiple opponents at once, so I think I developed a sense of quickly grasping the surroundings during those times.”

“I see… I can understand that.”

Ibuki understood that Ishud’s sense wasn’t something incomprehensible to others because there were people around her who had said similar things.

(In other words, it means we just need to get real combat experience.)

(Ishud… does that even count as an answer?)

(Hahaha, real combat in a few days… that’s something to get fired up about.)

Despite one overly eager person, today’s training was still tag battles.

“How about, before the match, everyone discusses what they’re good at or what they want to do?”

After lunch, Ishud suggested that Gulf and the others have a discussion beforehand, as if he had just thought of it.

(…That’s true. If we want to improve our coordination, there’s no other way.)

If everyone discussed, everyone would know each other’s strengths and desired actions.

If that happened, they might be able to read each other’s intentions and create a stalemate.

(Ishud-kun surely understands that.)

His smirk was clearly visible.

It was a look that seemed to say, “If you really want to get stronger, break through that stalemate.”

“Time’s up. Well then, do your best~~”

(Is it just me, or has it gotten a bit bigger since yesterday?)

(It’s definitely getting bigger day by day.)

(It’s definitely getting bigger.)

While Gulf and the others were having their matches, Ishud continued his muscle training as usual… and the equipment he was using grew larger day by day.

However, they didn’t have the luxury to worry about such changes and quickly focused on the matches in front of them.

(Everyone has a determined look… And Waltz… He seems to have started developing that sense with big boobs and the others, so I was a bit worried it might cause issues in their matches or when they teamed up, but it looks like I was worrying too much.)

During stretching exercises and meals, Ishud subtly kept an eye on the three of them, careful not to get noticed by Lyune.

As an older brother, he was happy—if he had to say—about his younger brother becoming aware of these things.

(It looks like the day when Waltz chooses someone from the maids is near. But if possible… Yeah, no, that’s not happening. No matter how much money is involved, some things are just impossible.)

Dismissing his sudden thoughts, he focused on their matches.
