Chapter 356: Lunch Break

For Tauro and the other members of “Black Golden Wings,” joined by three members of the Dragon People tribe, the quest to defeat the cockatrice on the outskirts of Bowmen’s territorial capital was an easy one.

The work of the red-haired Malak, the blonde-haired Zumei, and the blue-haired Reeva was so impressive that Tauro, Ragune, and Ankh barely had to be there.

The cockatrice is supposed to be a difficult enemy that can fly, albeit temporarily, and is agile and uses multiple abnormal attacks, but these three easily found it and strangled it, just like catching a chicken in a henhouse, and then quickly cut off the snake tail, which was the requested part to collect, to collect its venom, and also cut off the chicken crown, which was the proof of his subjugation.

Of course, I also took out the magic stone.

“Tauro-dono, are you really going to take the other parts home without throwing them away?”

The red-haired malak checked with Tauro while draining the cockatrice’s blood.

“Yes, sir. The cockatrice meat looks delicious, and I would like to save some for future food.”

If Tauro’s imagination is correct, the cockatrice would be chicken.

And moreover, it is a C-rank monster to be subdued.

 It is a rare food.

Tauro began cutting down the cockatrice to check the quality of the meat.

“Are you going to cook it here?”

The blue-haired Reeva asked in surprise.

“Let’s try a little to test it out. If it’s as good as I imagine, it’ll be delicious. ─ ─ It’s very elastic. …… Yes, let’s grill them on skewers.”

Tauro slices the cockatrice into pieces, then pulls out a skewer from his magic storage and starts to skewer it.

Ankh and Ragune imitated him and started stabbing the cockatrice.

“I want to check how the meat taste, so I’ll only use salt and pepper.”

Tauro says, and then proceeds to season the meat.

The blonde Zumei, who was also curious about the taste of cockatrice, agreed to eat it and immediately began using magic to create a simple U-shaped oven.

“…It’s lunchtime, so it’s okay.”

The red-haired malak, convinced, picked up some tree branches that had fallen, put it in the stove, and used fire magic to set them on fire.

Then Reeva began to grill the cockatrice meat that had been skewered.

 Malak also joined in.

“…… Then everyone listen to me while you work. It would be safer to talk here in the forest, since we don’t know who is listening in the city.”

Tauro continued, speaking as he skewered.

“…Do you still think that there is a possibility that dragon people other than you guys are involved with the Assassination Guild?”

Tauro said to no one in particular.

“…… Yes. In the battle to destroy the assassination guild’s base in the Royal Capital, as I mentioned before, we have confirmed that some of them have the blood of the dragon people in their veins and have subdued them. In addition, some of the secret arts handed down to the dragon tribe have been partially changed and a degraded version that can be used by the human tribe has been passed down as well. Originally, we started this to help Tauro-dono, but now, for the sake of the pride of the Dragon People, it is imperative that we exterminate the assassination guild.”

The red-haired Malak answered Tauro with half conviction on behalf of the Dragon People.

“…I understand. In that case, we’ll have to work hard to make sure we don’t slow you down.”

“It’s okay because we’ll be there with you. Once we know the exact location of the Assassination Guild’s main base, the elite of the Dragon People, led by the former capture group, will rush in.”

Malak answered Tauro, and the blond Zumei and the blue-haired Reeva nodded in agreement.

I guess they’re really going to “annihilate” them, literally, ……, poor things…….

Tauro felt a little sympathetic for the assassination guild, as a human who knows the strength of the dragon people best.

“Still, it’s a mystery to me that someone with the blood of the Dragon People is so deeply involved in the assassination guild.”

Ankh asked the biggest question of all

“That’s right. Because if it’s bad, there’s a possibility that the bloodline goes back hundreds of years, maybe even before the founding of the assassination guild. The chief has also ordered us to investigate the area, not to mention annihilate them.”

The blonde Zumei answered as he took a bite of a roasted cockatrice skewer in his hand.

“Zumei, you don’t have to say that.”

The blue-haired Reeva cautioned the blonde Zumei for speaking without thinking.

“…that’s why you should please leave this assassination guild annihilation operation to us, the dragon People.”

Malak announced as he turned to Tauro.

“Okay. Now, since Zumei-san started eating first, let’s all eat too.”

Tauro picked up a grilled skewer and handed them out to everyone to taste.

While the group was enjoying the delicious cockatrice meat, Reeva reacted to something.

“…it seems that Tauro-dono’s former father has entered the lord’s mansion. Now, the lord is  ‘dark’ too.”

Tauro’s ex-father, Sauk, had been under the tutelage of Malak and his friends for a long time and kept telling them about the assassination guild’s stronghold without his knowledge.

The more trust Sauk gained within the assassination guild, the more places he would visit, and this would be confirmed by Reeva, who was monitoring him with the  “marker” placed on him.

This is the reason why the base in the Royal Capital was discovered and resulted in its destruction, but not only the enemy but also Sauk himself is still unaware of it.

This time, too, Sauk’s reputation was high within the assassination guild, as he escaped with the top-secret documents that were entrusted to him after the destruction of the Royal Capital because of his special skills and talents.

Although at the time of the visit to the lord’s mansion, Tauro and the others were unaware of this fact.

“If that is confirmed, we will return to the town of Caxart, where everyone is waiting, this evening to discuss the matter.

Tauro told everyone as he ate the last of the meat skewers.
