Chapter 347: Unchanging work

Tauro’s foster father, Count Graunewald, gave him the position of territorial inspector, a certificate of appointment, and the count’s family crest, “Go and see the territory while being an adventurer.” It was an about-face, because it seemed to be no different from his life as an adventurer so far.

However, it seems that his foster father, Count Graunewald, intended for Tauro, the heir to the title, to learn about the territory and to let him learn naturally.

Besides, Count and Countess Graunewald used to look forward to having meals with Tauro in the Royal capital, and Mrs. Graunewald was disappointed that she would not be able to see him after they returned to the territory.

However, if they could have him tour the territory as a territorial inspector, it would be a learning experience for Tauro himself, and he would have the opportunity to see them again soon.

It was a quick thinking on Count Graunewald’s part, but it might have been the perfect idea.

A week had passed since Tauro was appointed as a territorial inspector, and him and his party the “Black Golden Wings” were still staying in the city of Caxart.

“Then, let’s go out to defeat the flaming crabs again today!”

Tauro fired up Ragune and Ankh for the quest that has been a daily routine for a while.

Yes, although the damage caused by the monsters in the salt lake had dropped dramatically from before due to the daily subjugation by the “Black Golden Wings,” but it was still not a situation where it could be said that they had been completely exterminated.

Of course, the Adventurers’ Guild, Caxart branch asked other branches to dispatch adventurers of D rank or higher, and in the past few days, adventurers from other places began to arrive, but due to the dark activities of the vice-chief, who was arrested on various charges after being pursued by the branch chief, the Caxart branch’s reputation as of recent has not been praiseworthy by the other adventurers’ guilds, so the gathering was not so good.

Therefore, with the capture of the branch’s highest rank adventurer, the C+ team, “Gray Vulture,” the D+ team, “Black Golden Wings,” was currently taking the lead in continuing the highly urgent quest, “Subjugating the Flame Crabs.”

“Leader, some of the local E+ teams have expressed interest in working with us, what should we do?”

Ankh asked, pointing to the three teams that had been following Tauro and the others at a distance.

“Well, ……. The guild treats it as a free quest, so I don’t see the problem. ……, you’ve already completed the quest process, right?”

The three E+ teams that followed nodded broadly.

“Well, let’s have them follow us one by one and use a special formation to take down the crabs. Ragune, Ankh, and I are used to defeating flaming crabs,  so I’d like the three teams to study our fighting style, then you might be able to subjugate it starting tomorrow.’’

Tauro suggested, and the teams were immediately assigned.

The E+ team attached to Tauro was not perplexed by Tauro being a child.

After all, he is the man who slit the right wrist of Hagen, the leader of the “Gray Vultures,” and captured him.

As witnesses to this, they are well aware that the boy in front of them is no ordinary child.

The “flaming crab Subjugation’’” with a special formation centered on the “Black Golden Wings” team started out with the team members being slowed down at times, but under Tauro’s guidance, they were able to kill several flaming crabs by evening, even without him.

It’s still a bit risky, but with this, they might be able to be promoted to D-rank and become an asset to the branch.

Tauro taught them everything he could and then joined the rest of the team.

It seems that both the Ragune and Ankh teams were satisfied with their defeat, judging from their expressions.

“Well, I guess we’ll report back to the guild and call it a day.”

 Tauro calls out to everyone.

“”Thank you very much for today, everyone from ‘Black Golden Wings’!””

The members of the E+ team said their thanks and returned to the guild in a friendly atmosphere, perhaps feeling confident in their own growth.

“Then, let’s go back too.”

Tauro calls out to Ragune and Ankh.

Just then, a boy with a hood over his head walks up to them.

It was Zion, the baggage handler for the “Gray Vultures.”

“Zion-kun, what  are you doing here? ──Ah, did you come to let me know that you’ve finished testifying about Baron Colon and Hagen and the others?”

Tauro said and walked up to Zion.

“That’s true, but ……. Tauro-san! Put me in the ‘Black Golden Wings’!”

Zion said and fell to his knees on the spot.

“Huh? Why?”

Tauro couldn’t help but ask back to the unexpected request

“I want to become an adventurer like you! I have gained experience as an adventurer while working for Hagen and his crew as a baggage handler.”

“Hey, hey, hey. But you’re a baggage handler, right? Besides, you’d have to be in at least a D-rank band to play in our team.”*

Ankh tried to dismiss Zion’s wish.

“Most of the mayor’s requests that Hagen and the others were receiving were treated as free quests, so thanks to that, I’m in the D-rank band, at least. I’m a D-ranker, but of course, compared to you guys, I might be a liability. But in the village you guys took me to, I had my skills appraised for the first time. …”

“Appraised? Oh, Zion-kun, you had not been able to check your skills at all, right?”

When Tauro said that, he nodded in understanding.

“After hearing the results of the appraisal, I decided to ask for your help. I want to be helpful to everyone, so please let me join!”

“It was a good result, wasn’t it? Boy, so what were your skills?”

 Ragune asked, intrigued.

“My skill is “Light Mage Monk’’! The person who appraised me told me that I can do everything from rear  support to close combat! Please, I want to be of help to everyone, so please let me join your group!”

Zion replied emphatically and asked again to join the group.
