Chapter 24: At Least The Power is Superior

“Ishud… W-weren’t you scared?”

“Of the prince? Or the lapdog that barked so much?”

“Bo-both, I guess.”

“Neither of them scared me at all.”

On their way to the classroom, Ishud quickly replied to Gulf’s question.

Whether he was a member of the royal family or a follower of that royal, neither frightened Ishud in the slightest.

“Yeah, I get it. These guys have their own kind of strength, scarier than the people around me. But… from my perspective, in the end, I think those who can fight on their own are stronger.”

“Uh, the guy who gets angry easily too, not scared at all?”

“Like I said, just a lapdog that barks a lot. At that level, I think the blonde, curly-haired young lady I fought the other day… Michela, was it? The young lady is probably stronger.”

“T-that’s true. Um, why don’t you find Adreas-sama scary?”

“Well, if you think about the position… it wouldn’t be good if a royal did something bad openly.”

“That’s… true, indeed.”

While it’s not acceptable to engage in wrongdoing, even if you’re not of royal blood, it’s not wrong as a statement.

“I don’t have a particularly trustworthy relationship with that prince… Honestly, if he could do something to me, I think the royal family would have already tightened the reins on the Regula family a bit more.”

“…In terms of power dynamics, is the Regula family winning?”

“At the very least, I believe my actual family has the upper hand in terms of physical power dynamics. But… even if a full-scale war broke out between the Regula family, the royal family, and other nobles for some reason, my folks would gladly rush onto the battlefield.”

“I-I pray that such a thing doesn’t happen.”

“As for me, I don’t think it’s a good idea to expose your back to other countries, and I hope it doesn’t happen… But if it does, my actual family would be the only ones to win.”

They never doubt their victory, not even by a millimeter.

The students who overheard their conversation wondered if these frontier barbarians were truly insane in various ways and found them to be a frightening presence.

“It’s over, it’s over… Alright, let’s eat.”

“I’m so hungry~”

“Huh? What’s the matter… escaping through the window, maybe?”

“Probably, we might be chased.”

Without hiding their resigned feelings, Ishud headed towards the guest’s location.

“I appreciate you understanding my intentions.”

“It’s just a gut feeling, but I thought the student council president wouldn’t come to our class for no reason other than me.”

“That’s correct. Now, let’s change locations.”

“Gulf can come along, right?”

“Yes, of course.”

Walking together were Christille, the student council president, and the frontier barbarian, an ordinary citizen.

No one could witness this scene without feeling a sense of unease.

This discomfort extended not only to the students but also to the teachers.

(…Isn’t it the cafeteria? Where on earth are they going?)

The place the two were guided to was Christille’s room, where she conducted her work after school – the student council room.

(Hey hey… Am I going to be lynched or something?)

“Please, come in… Rest assured. I have no intention of quarreling with you.”

“I got it, I got it. Gulf, let’s go in.”

“Y-yeah.”

Inside the student council room… while there were several towers of documents, the walls, shelves, and floor were not particularly dirty, and everything seemed well-maintained.

“Huh!!! Y-you are…”

“Oh, could it be!!”

“Hmm, you are that…”

“…Oh, I see, a student council member.”

Inside, various members of the student council were already having their lunch freely.

“W-Why are you in the student council room?!”

“Use that question for your student council president over there, Mr. Smarty Glasses.”

“W-What’s with that nickname!?”

Though Andreas was well-known in the school, Ishud, who naturally didn’t know them like Christille, Michela, and others, just gave them random nicknames for the time being.

“By the way, Student Council President, what about our lunch?”

“Don’t worry.”

Not knowing what to feel reassured about, meat that had already been cooked was taken out from the item bag.

“Feel free to add your preferred sauce.”

“Wow~~~ So this is the student council president’s homemade dish? If people find out I’m eating this, I might get attacked by the president’s fans shedding tears of blood.”

Uttering threatening words, Ishud started cutting into the thick meat.

“Come on, Gulf, let’s eat.”

“Yeah, okay.”

Gulf also had a strong preference for simple meat dishes, but given the current circumstances, similar to breakfast, he could hardly taste the presumably delicious meal.

“So… you went out of your way to call me to the student council room… Is there something you want to ask me about? Yeah, it’s tasty.”

“I wanted to talk a little about the ring you recently acquired.”

“Hmm… Oh, this sauce is good too. The ring, huh? The one Michela was wearing… You can’t overlook it when you’re her big sister, huh?”

“Oh, big sister? … Anyway, about that ring… is there any way we can negotiate something?”

It wasn’t an unexpected request.

The moment he realized Christille had something to discuss, he felt about 10% of it was within the realm of possibility.

“If it’s something I can do, I’ll do my best to make it happen.”

“…Student Council President, you might want to choose your words more carefully. Look at Mr. Smarty Glasses’ face.”

“? What!?? N-Nels, what kind of expression is he making?”

Mr. Smarty Glasses, or Nels, had his glasses askew, a bit of runny nose, and his mouth wide open, shaking slightly.

“P-President~~. I-I think, as the new student mentioned, it would be better to choose your words more carefully~~. You know, haven’t you heard the saying that a man’s true nature is like a beast?”

“…………!!!!!!!”

Finally realizing the extent of the dangerous words he had uttered, Nels’ face exploded with embarrassment.

Turning as red as a ripe tomato… though his expression faltered a bit, he coughed once and repositioned himself.

“…Um, well, you know. Please understand it’s a request with that level of determination.”

(………………Hey, someone! Please tell this overly serious student council president about the horrors of male students’ sexual desires. There will definitely be some poor male student who will get it wrong somewhere!!!!!)

When someone is this earnest, even Ishud couldn’t mock them with his usual cheeky attitude.
