Chapter 267: Various Magical Modifications
After walking around the dragonfolk village—which was large enough to be called a town—Tauro returned to the room he was borrowing in Drago’s house.
He went into the garden and laid out the magic stones and clothing he had purchased, along with the two shields and Ankh’s plate cuirass.
“I can modify the gauntlets and greaves another time. They aren’t urgent.”
Tauro first picked up Aeris’s new clothing. He took a sewing kit and a square piece of cloth bearing a magic circle from [Magic Storage], then carefully sewed the cloth to the inside of the garment.
The circle sat directly behind the magic-stone socket on the chest.
“The cloth is woven from Giant Hell Spider thread. Combined with my magic circle and this stone, it should produce an excellent result…”
Tauro inserted the selected magic stone and examined the completed garment with [True Eye].
“Giant Hell Spider Priest’s Robes.”
High-grade priest’s robes modified by Giro Sugar.
A hidden enchantment grants the wearer poison resistance, paralysis resistance, and fire resistance.
A Skeleton Necromancer magic stone grants increased magical power and instant-death resistance.
“Good. This should compensate for Aeris’s weaknesses.”
Satisfied, Tauro returned the robes to [Magic Storage].
He next turned to the two shields.
Tauro took out a pouch of gold coins, placed the smaller shield on the ground with its reverse side facing upward, and prepared one of the magic stones.
Holding the stone in his right hand and a gold coin in his left, he invoked [Creation Magic (Weak)].
A blinding light briefly filled the garden. When it faded, a magic circle had been engraved into the back of the shield, with the stone embedded at its center.
Tauro released a long breath. “As expected, [Creation Magic (Weak)] consumes an absurd amount…” He then drank a magic-restoration potion.
Next, he took a thin plate from [Magic Storage], placed it over the exposed circle and stone, and cast elementary fire-spirit magic. He intensified the flame through [Magic Manipulation] (Extreme).
He intended to weld the protective plate onto the back of the shield.
“This takes a little longer, but it places far less strain on me.”
After putting on tinted protective glasses, Tauro completed the weld without difficulty.
“Now to check this one with [True Eye].”
Tauro appraised the result.
“Guardian Doll Round Shield.”
A one-of-a-kind round shield modified by Giro Sugar.
Its hidden enchantment grants physical resistance, weak resistance to all magic, and increased durability.
A Great Scarlet Ape magic stone grants a strong increase in arm strength.
“Excellent. With this, I can serve as an emergency shield-bearer when necessary.”
Satisfied, Tauro stored it and turned to the larger shield.
He again held a gold coin and magic stone, used [Creation Magic (Weak)] to engrave a circle and embed the stone in the shield’s reverse side, then welded a protective plate over them.
“The second attempt went much more smoothly.”
Tauro nodded in satisfaction and drank another magic-restoration potion.
He then appraised the finished shield.
“Mirror Turtle Rectangular Shield.”
A one-of-a-kind rectangular shield modified by Giro Sugar.
Its hidden enchantment grants magic reflection, physical resistance, and light-magic resistance.
A Magic Rock Turtle magic stone grants physical resistance, earth-attribute enhancement, and area protection.
“The result is slightly different from what I expected, but it should suit Ragune well.”
Tauro stored the large shield with equal satisfaction.
Finally, he turned to the plate cuirass intended for Ankh.
Because the armor already possessed Weight Reduction, Tauro decided to add only a circle that would release the selected magic stone’s abilities.
As before, he used a gold coin to engrave the magic circle into the inside of the cuirass.
The armor already had a recessed socket for a processed stone, so this modification consumed less magical power than altering the shields.
“Now I only need to fit the stone. Then, appraisal.”
“Plate Cuirass Made from Wandering Ghost Armor.”

“Yes. This should help bring out Ankh’s offensive strengths.”
Tauro was pleased with the result and returned the cuirass to [Magic Storage].
Only one magic stone remained—the one he had planned to install in his own leather armor.
“What should I do about the leather armor…? I want to buy it from Mr. Rangas, so I suppose I’ll have to wait.”
Tauro stored the final stone and brought the day’s work to an end.
A few days later, on the eve of the dungeon expedition, Tauro returned to Rangas’s shop and was presented with the newly completed leather armor.
