Just another Isekai Lover~

Chapter 13: Let’s Make a Trap

After the three of us have finished checking our status, Tsubaki and Sakura are eating breakfast. I had already finished mine and I’m sipping diluted tea. Tea leaves are also precious, so we have to be stingy with them.

“I hope you will listen to me as you eat. From today on, I basically want to spend the mornings working and the afternoons free to do whatever we want. We’ll use the time to do what we want to do, even if it’s limited to the village.”

As long as there are safe boundaries, there is nothing to do in a hurry. Of course we have to do something about the food situation. Besides, I couldn’t think of a way to find out what kind of structure this world has, whether there is a civilization, whether there are demons, and so on.

First of all, I wanted to have more free time and prioritize what each of us wanted to do and try. By doing so, we might come up with some good ideas.

“So it could be rest, or skills research, or whatever!”

“Yeah, keep at it.”

“Can’t I farm in the afternoons too?”

“Sure, that’s fine. Especially in Tsubaki’s case, farming is a good way to study her skills. Just make sure you both take good care of yourselves.”

“I understand. Is there anything else?”

“I’ll tell you what else. ……. If you find any transferees, locals, monsters, etc., you must come to me first to report it.”

“Yes, sir!”

Unless there is urgent work to be done, we decided to live in this cycle.

“So, today’s plan is to build a new field. The land is 10 meters wide and leads down to the river. Let’s make a field right in the middle of this land.”

“It’s at least a hundred meters wide.”

“Yes, we don’t have to finish it all in a hurry, but i would like you to go ahead with the plan.”

“How much space do you want me to leave at each end of the field?”

“Well, it will be a pathway to the river, so let’s leave a 2 meter gap at each end.”

“I understand.”

Sakura asked at this point.

“I understand about the field. By the way, what is your intention to put the field in the center of the land?”

“If we put the fields to one side or both sides, the view of some crops will be obstructed. Also, there are cases where you have to go outside the boundaries when you work.”

“To detect foreign enemies and to ensure safety.”

“Oh, I see!”

I nodded back silently as she grasped my intentions.

“I want Sakura to organize the rooms on the second floor. There should be three Western-style rooms available. I want you to make them usable as rooms for Sakura and Tsubaki.”

“I’m thinking about it, but would it be okay if we stay in the same room for a while?”

“You can do whatever you want. There’s no guarantee that I won’t attack you.”

“It doesn’t seem like it at all. But thank you.”

When I responded, neither Tsubaki nor Sakura gave any indication that they were bothered. I seemed to have earned a decent amount of trust.

“Then let’s get started. I will give priority to consideration of village skills.”

“Let’s do our best!”

As I parted from them and headed out of the house, I pondered what to start with.

I left the fields to Tsubaki, but we had no staples and no meat. Potatoes and sweet potatoes could be staples, but we need rice and wheat if possible. As for meat, we need to go outside the boundaries, so we can’t make any rash moves.

(And then there are countermeasures against people. ……)

If transferees or locals who can communicate with us arrive, i will check if they are willing to become villagers and give them permission to reside. I have set the criteria for automatic expulsion at 50 loyalty, so if there is any dissatisfaction, they should be automatically expelled.

I’ll remind myself about the loyalty and recheck it in my head.

================

Loyalty value

The lower limit is 0 and the upper limit is 99

Loyalty values fluctuate up or down depending on various factors

90-99

The state of absolute devotion to the village head

70-89

The state of having a high level of trust in the village head

50-69

Some degree of trust in the village head

30-49

Do not have much trust in the village head

10-29

Have a great deal of distrust in the village head

0-9

The state of having murderous intent toward the village head

================

I still have no problem setting the loyalty level at 50. For the time being, i did not plan to put anyone in the village who was not trusted in the slightest.

Even if you are not a villager, you can invade and  be banished. But in that case, I have to be careful. The moment i allow an overwhelmingly strong person to invade, there is a possibility that i will be subdued before i can banish them.

(I need to be very careful when using this method.)

Also, i want to see what happens when i expel the villagers. I called Tsubaki and Sakura back to the living room and asked for their cooperation on countermeasures.

“Sorry to interrupt your work, but I really need to check this now.”

“I’ll take care of it. I will go to the edge of the boundary, so please give me a signal from here.”

With Sakura’s cooperation, the following was discovered.

If you leave the village voluntarily, you can come and go as you please as a villager.

If I expel a villager myself, their status as a villager will be terminated and they will not be able to enter the village again.

The location of expulsion is fixed regardless of whether the person is a villager or not.

“I think I can make a terrible trap,”

Says Sakura, who had just returned.

“Since the position after banishment is fixed, a deep hole is dug there, and when a foreign enemy arrives, permission is given to enter. Then we immediately expel them and drop them in the hole. Apparently, that’s how it works.”

“I see, it’s simple, but it’s going to be a vicious trap.”

“Depending on the depth of the hole and how it works, it could kill them instantly.”

For a while after that, we discussed the possible enemies we might encounter and the situations we might find ourselves in. In the end, the strategy meeting was adjourned with the decision made to give priority to the creation of traps.

“Tsubaki, let’s put off the farm work until later, and you go ahead and make the traps first. I’ll keep an eye on the surroundings in the meantime.”

“Yes, sir! Leave it to me!”

Tsubaki’s skills were going to be put to good use. She was very enthusiastic in his reply, as if she knew it too.
