Chapter 49

Chapter 49: The Guild’s Dismantling Area

It seemed that the purchase procedures for the materials Ren had submitted had just been completed, as his number tag was out.

Ren rushed to the counter and, while showing his number tag, asked the staff member at the window.

“Can I dismantle things myself inside the guild?”

“Go around back and ask.”

While placing the purchase amount on a wooden tray, the staff member said curtly in a blunt tone. Ren’s eyes sparkled.

The purchase price for Ashvale’s magic stone was higher than he had thought, and overall, the purchase prices for forest medicinal herbs and monsters were higher than those from the grasslands. Horned Ferret pelts also seemed to be popular. After putting the purchase money in his pocket and having the Moss Rabbit meat wrapped in a large leaf and placed in a hemp sack, Ren headed toward the back of the guild.

Ren carried the hemp sack containing the Moss Rabbit meat on his shoulder and went around to the back of the guild building, passing by the side of the structure. When he went behind the building, he saw a tall fence. From beyond the fence came dull sounds like meat being chopped and vigorous voices of workers shouting at each other. What assaulted his nose was the thick smell of monsters.

“It seems the dismantling area is over there…”

The heavy-looking door attached to the high wall gave off an atmosphere that didn’t seem easy to enter casually.

Looking around, he saw a man in an apron sitting beside a cart, apparently fixing the cart’s wheels.

“Um… the place where you can dismantle…”

When he called out, the man with a sunburned face looked up. He frowned slightly and looked at Ren with a puzzled expression.

“Huh? …The dismantling hut for adventurers? It’s over there. The shabby hut at the very end.”

What the man pointed to was a rugged small stone building surrounded by weeds. Ren approached it, but the door was closed and wouldn’t open whether he pushed or pulled. It seemed to be locked.

“It’s closed…?”

Wondering if he could peek inside through the open wooden window, he stood on his tiptoes when he sensed someone approaching.

When he turned around, a large man with a bushy beard and thick chest and arm hair was approaching.

“Hey. It’s still lunch break.”

“Ah! …I see…”

“If you’re going to dismantle, come after the bell rings.”

“I just came to look… I’ll come back later.”

“The rules are written over there.”

“Ah, thank you!”

Ren had just had the Moss Rabbit dismantled for him; he didn’t particularly want to do the dismantling himself, but only wanted to see what the dismantling area was like. Since the staff member seemed to be on lunch break, he was about to leave when the man pointed to a board leaning against the hut wall. Looking at it, he could see faded writing on the old board.

▪️ Dismantling Hut Usage Rules

  • Buckets and well water are available for use
  • Clean up after yourself. Wash away the blood.
  • Dismantling knife rental is available for a fee (Compensation required if not returned after use, or if damaged)

(I wonder how much the knife rental fee is…)

Curious, he glanced toward the man who seemed to be a staff member. The man had sat down deeply in a chair placed beside the hut and was wiping a knife with a cloth. Ren thought about asking, but remembered that the man had said he was on break.

(I can ask when I come to dismantle…)

“I’ll come again!”

“Yeah.”

When Ren called out, the man responded without looking up.

After checking the location of the well, Ren left the back of the guild.

“I should go home once and deliver the Moss Rabbit meat…”

After leaving the Adventurer’s Guild, he checked whether the blood from the Moss Rabbit wrapped in the large leaf was seeping into the hemp sack, then adjusted it so it wouldn’t press too tightly against his back as much as possible.
