Chapter 37: Armor of Annihilation

“Blaze Shot!”

One by one, the students attempted to destroy the armor, but none managed to even scratch it.

Celia was among them.

Even though Celia can use advanced spells like ‘Fireball’ and ‘Fire Lance,’ she deliberately demonstrated ‘Blaze Shot,’ a basic spell.

She probably wanted to avoid drawing too much attention, given the presence of royalty. It would be disastrous if her true identity were discovered.

After finishing ‘Blaze Shot,’ Celia returned towards us. Though she can actually use seven attributes, she’s pretending to be a commoner and sticking to just the fire attribute for now.

“Next, Leonhart.”

“Okay.”

Called by the teacher, I stood in front of the armor. I might as well do my best and use ‘Blaze Shot’ to keep things simple.

“Pfft. Both master and servant can only use fire magic.”

“Is there any point in making them a failure? It’ll probably end with ‘Blaze Shot.'”

“Such a waste of time.”

“Still, that Celia girl was cute.”

“Even I’d want someone like her.”

“I hear you can challenge her to a duel for two hundred gold coins.”

“It’s expensive, but maybe I’ll give it a try.”

“First come, first served.”

This is bad. Seria is drawing attention. It’s unlikely she’ll be immediately recognized as a princess of the Luclair Kingdom, but continuing to be the center of attention only increases the risk.

Furthermore, if anyone other than Julian steps forward to challenge, things will quickly spiral out of control.

I need to grab the spotlight and shift the focus.

“Teacher, I have a question. Is it alright to destroy that armor?”

“Yes, if you can manage it.”

The teacher answered with a smile. I’ve got his statement on record.

“What is he saying?”

“There’s no way he can do it.”

“He’s just trying to look impressive.”

They’re being so dismissive.

I kicked the ground with irritation.

Boom!!!

In that instant, the adamantite armor was engulfed in crimson flames and vanished. It evaporated in the blink of an eye.

“Huh…?”

“Eh…?”

“What? What’s going on?”

“What’s happening!?”

“What kind of trick did he use…!?”

Ignoring the students’ uproar, I turned to the teacher, who was standing there with his mouth agape in shock.

“I got your statement, didn’t I?”

 ◇

After the magic lesson was cut short, we returned to the classroom.

“What kind of trick did he use…?”

“Did he hang it on strings and throw it?”

“That was adamantite armor! Who could even throw something like that?”

“Yeah, that makes no sense…”

It seems that, thanks to my usual low-key behavior, no one believed I actually destroyed the armor. Instead, they were busy trying to figure out how I made it disappear.

I probably should’ve done something flashier—like slicing it clean in half. But in the heat of the moment, I let my frustration get the better of me and ended up vaporizing it.

At least I succeeded in shifting the conversation from Celia to me. Sure, it didn’t go as smoothly as planned, but the main objective was achieved, so I’ll take it as a win.

Oh, and the teacher? He bolted to the faculty office. He’s probably getting chewed out right now. After all, even though no one could wear it, that armor was still incredibly valuable.

 ◇

“Engelbrecht, could I have a moment?”

“Julian?”

When I turned around at Julian’s call, I saw Julian and Her Highness Anneliese with tense expressions on their faces. As I hurriedly tried to kneel, Her Highness Anneliese stopped me with a hand gesture.

“We are preparing the room. Let’s go there first.”

“Yes, ma’am!”

“Okay.”

Why is Julian with Her Highness Anneliese?

Swallowing that question, I followed Her Highness Anneliese into the private room.

Inside, there were three female students preparing tea and other refreshments. They were likely the noble daughters chosen as Her Highness Anneliese’s friends.

“Please, have a seat.”

“Excuse me.”

I sat down on the sofa directly opposite Her Highness Anneliese.

My behind still ached from being burned by Leonhart, but I endured it.

However, why did Her Highness Anneliese call us?

The answer soon came from Her Highness’s lips.

“What do you think of Leonhart?”

“Leonhart…”

Does Her Highness despise Leonhart?

“He’s a bad person who made Celia a slave and won’t free her!”

Julian said with hatred.

Her Highness Anneliese nodded in agreement with Julian.

“I too cannot forgive Leonhart’s actions. As a woman, it is very unpleasant.”

“We feel the same way.”

One of the female students echoed Her Highness Anneliese’s words.

“Therefore, I have decided to support you.”

“Support, you say? That is very much appreciated, but…”

“What will you do for us?”

“Hey, Julian! Watch your mouth!”

“Yes, yes…”

Her Highness Anneliese seemed amused by the exchange between Julian and me, and she smiled.

“You are struggling with funds, aren’t you? We will provide support.”

Certainly, that is very appreciated…

“Is it alright? It’s not certain that we will win…”

I couldn’t help but voice my doubts.
