Chapter 93

Chapter 93: Easy Leveling, Once Again

The so-called “Sea of Trees of Death,” a place shrouded in legend and danger.

Since I had recently moved my second home garden to a spot right on its edge, I decided it was the perfect opportunity to try the automated garden-leveling method I had used before.

“First, I need to leave a section of the wall open… okay.”

I began by lighting the monster-attracting incense I had purchased from Merlin inside the garden. Almost immediately, the sweet, pungent aroma wafted through the air and drew a single monster toward me.

It was a bear-like monster, towering over three meters in height. Its limbs were thick as tree trunks, and its razor-sharp claws gleamed like sabers in the dim light.

Even such a fearsome creature, however, was nothing more than a summer bug to a fire it could not resist.

“Grrraaah!?”

The megagolems I had created pounced on it relentlessly. Within moments, the beast fell lifeless, crushed under their overwhelming assault.

One after another, monsters from the deadly forest came rushing in, but each time, my golems dispatched them with ease.

“As expected… being right on the edge of a demon-infested zone, monsters just keep appearing without pause.”

There was no sign of the waves letting up. I knew that during the last stampede, an incredible number of monsters had poured out of this forest and into the city—but just how many actually lived here?

“Whoa… that one looks serious.”

As I pondered the thought, an unusually massive monster appeared. It was the same beast I had glimpsed during the stampede: a Blood Elephant, a monstrous, elephantine creature.

“PAAAAAON!”

With a roar that pierced my eardrums, it charged straight at the incense. My megagolems tried to encircle and strike, but its colossal bulk sent them flying with ease.

“This one’s too heavy for the megagolems,” I muttered, sizing up the challenge.

I summoned a gigagolem.

“PAON!?”

The towering creature, easily fifteen meters tall, collided head-on with the Blood Elephant, sending the massive monster skidding backward. Dazed and staggering, it barely had time to recover before the gigagolem’s fist came crashing down.

“~~~~!?”

The blow landed squarely on the Blood Elephant’s skull. With a deafening thud, it collapsed, unconscious, the ground quaking beneath its massive frame.

“Impressive.”

The gigagolem raised its fist in triumph, savoring the victory. But then—

“KUEEEE!”

A shrill, piercing cry rang out from above. I looked up in alarm to see a gigantic, monstrous bird hurtling through the sky at breakneck speed.

“From the air!?”

Caught off guard, I watched as the winged monster dove straight toward me. My gigagolem shifted instantly to shield me, and I ducked beneath its massive frame.

“――――”

“KUEE!”

The gigagolem swung its fists, but the bird was too agile, evading and escaping back into the air. It circled just out of reach, and then, from near its tail, it dropped something.

“Fuh!?”

The object hit the ground and splattered into fragments across the garden.

“Ugh… what a stench!”

The foul odor assaulted my nostrils, and with every breath, a burning pain clawed at my throat. My vision blurred as a wave of dizziness swept over me.

Could it be… poison?

It seemed the bird had dropped toxic excrement, a potent poison contained within.

I had to act fast. Without hesitation, I used garden-to-garden transfer to retreat to my first home garden.

“Mi-Miranda…!”

“Guuuuhhh~”

No luck—she was sprawled on her back, stomach exposed, sleeping like a log.

“And Bladia…?”

Not present. Typical—my freeloading houseguests were utterly useless in a crisis.

“Meow~?”

Ah, right. I had Milky.

I instructed her to fetch the first-aid kit from inside the house.

“Meow!”

She understood immediately, bounding inside and returning swiftly with the box clenched in her jaws. Always reliable, that one.

From the kit, I grabbed a pale green potion and downed it in a single gulp. It was the anti-poison potion Merlin had prepared using the shi-grass harvested from my garden.

Its effects were astonishingly strong—capable of neutralizing most toxins entirely. Moreover, a single dose granted temporary immunity to poison.

Denis had once told me it was selling well lately because so many monsters in dungeons carried dangerous toxins.

“Phew…”

The poison left my system almost immediately, leaving me feeling light and relieved.

“Thanks, Milky.”

“Purr, purr, purr.”

I scratched her fluffy head, and she purred happily in response.

Still, that monster… I needed a proper strategy. Golems were immune to poison, but humans were not. I couldn’t rely on anti-poison potions indefinitely.

Once the incense’s effect wore off, I returned to the second garden, carrying a few doses of the potion. The bird had already departed. Though traces of the toxic residue lingered in the air, I felt no ill effects thanks to the potion.

I poured the anti-poison potion over the splattered excrement. This seemed to neutralize the poison, dispersing it almost instantly.

The golems had also done their job while I was away—monster corpses littered the garden, a sizable pile testifying to their relentless work.

〈Absorb the monsters?〉

Better to absorb them now. My level was nearly hitting fifty, and I might learn a useful new skill.

“Yes.”
