Chapter 30: The Wrong Person to Put Down

“Just a moment, please!”

“…I don’t want to, so goodbye~~~”

“W-wait a minute!!”

After the day’s classes ended, the two immediately left the classroom as usual.

As they were planning to go outside the royal capital for training, a female student approached them.

“…What’s up, blonde with vertical curls.”

“Huh!? I introduced myself as Michela Maxellan before, didn’t I?! What’s with that weird nickname!!”

“I don’t really consider us friends, so ‘blonde with vertical curls’ is enough.”

“Grr!”

As Ishud rightly said, the two were definitely not friends, and it would be accurate to say that their parents had almost no connection.

“…So, what do you want from me, blonde with vertical curls? If it’s about a ring, I gave it to the student council president.”

“Well… yes, that’s true. However, I have another matter to discuss with you.”

“Hmm, make it short.”

“…U-um, please let me join the training you’re doing!!”

Upon hearing Michela’s request, the other students around wore expressions of astonishment and unease.

The individual known as Ishud Regula is undeniably strong.

His strength was demonstrated in the previous match, showcasing a power that rivaled, if not surpassed, even the upperclassmen.

However, while his strength is proven, his manners and etiquette still remain quite lacking, maintaining the perception of him as a barbarian from the frontier.

For a noble lady to join the training conducted by someone like him, it’s natural for other noble young ladies and gentlemen to feel uneasy, given his reputation.

“Huh? Why?? Obviously, I refuse.”

“What!? Refusing without any reason is completely unreasonable!!”

“Well, like I said earlier… we’re not friends, right? Would you expect someone who isn’t your friend to accept a request like that?”

There are other reasons, but part of it is the unwillingness to entertain a request from someone who isn’t a friend.

However… from Michela’s perspective, asking her defeated opponent to train together was akin to swallowing her pride and bowing her head.

Therefore, she hadn’t anticipated her offer being rejected at all.

“Maybe you should try to understand a bit more about being in the position of someone who lost to me.”

“Ugh!!!! …P-please.”

Although Ishud’s way of speaking threatened to boil her anger once again, Michela forcibly reminded herself of her defeat and, this time, clearly lowered her head, pleading.

(Huh~~~? Seems like she’s quite serious. Normally, people would choose a more appropriate time to bow their heads… but it looks like she still doesn’t really understand me.)

Ishud gestured for Michela to lift her head.

Thinking that Ishud had agreed to her request, Michela’s face lit up with a smile… but he hadn’t given his consent yet.

“Blonde with vertical curls, you’ve got the wrong person to bow to.”

“Huh? …What do you mean by that?”

Michela believed that by joining Ishud’s training, she could become even stronger than she is now, so she swallowed her pride and made the request.

Yes… she thought there was no one else she needed to bow to except Ishud.

“The one you should bow your head to is your old man.”

“My… father… No way!!!??”

“That’s the way it is. Well then, once the details are settled and the money’s in, come talk to me again.”

Ishud didn’t want Michela to bow to him. He simply thought that if she’s willing to pay or treat him to a meal at a fancy restaurant, then he might consider letting her join the training.

“Hey, Ishud. Looks like you got tangled up with someone troublesome.”

“Oh, hey Philip. If you saw that, you could’ve helped me out.”

“Nah, it’s fine. It’s not like I have a bad relationship with her, but she’s not the type to back off just because I say something.”

“Well, that’s true.”

“By the way… if that girl Michela Maxellan really talks to Marquis Maxellan and gets the money, are you really going to let her join our training?”

They’ve only known each other as friends for less than a year.

However, having come to understand Ishud’s personality and thoughts to some extent, Philip couldn’t imagine Ishud earnestly teaching something to Michela.

“Well, if she properly bows to her old man and gets the money ready, I might let her join the training… for the training.”

“Hehe, you look kind of evil~~~”

“Do I? Well, maybe. But… it’s her fault for not confirming everything right there.”

(Hmm… I thought all nobles were clever, but Michela-san… isn’t she very good at negotiation? Watching Ishud, it seems like she’s completely being rolled around in the palm of his hand.)

Having had no experience in the social scene so far, Ishud himself, including his past life, was not the type to engage in such interactions.

However…if the other party is someone who can’t think deeply, it’s not impossible to respond with words that are difficult to counter.

Gulf, while sympathizing a little, recognized that if Michela were to participate in the Fierce Battle Festival, being a fellow first-year student, she might have a high chance of becoming a rival. He thought that Ishud might consider being a bit kinder to her, but he refrained from offering such advice.

“Ishud, could you please participate in the Fierce Battle Festival?”

“Well, you see, I won’t participate. Even if I did, I don’t think it would be very enjoyable.”

A few days later, on the second night of the holiday, Ishud returned from practical training to find the headmaster of Flaveld Academy waiting for him.

While sipping on tea brewed by the headmaster himself, Ishud once again rejected the request.

The headmaster wanted to point out that the Fierce Battle Festival isn’t something to be enjoyed, but realizing that Ishud had such an understanding, he acknowledged that Ishud truly had no intention of participating.

(What should I do… I was hoping to have him participate in the Fierce Battle Festival when he enrolled… Hmm.)

The proposal from the student council president, Christille, seemed reasonable.

If Ishud were to fight against someone else who has also completed three job changes, it could be considered a way to prove that he is, in essence, the strongest.

However, since he’s not actually participating in the Fierce Battle Festival tournament, there may still be those who would argue against this claim.

“…Hmph!!!! Ishud, how about this kind of battle?”

Having come up with a brilliant idea, the headmaster quickly conveyed it to Ishud.

“Oh~~~ That’s… hehehe, not bad, right? I don’t mind participating in this kind of battle.”

“Is that so? Alright, then it’s settled.”
