Chapter 12: Accept it With Dignity

(Ohhh, they’re making quite a commotion. Seriously, don’t direct that much hostility… You might feel like fighting, but)

Without being daunted by the overwhelming number of gazes directed at him, Ishud ascends to the stage confidently… with a calm and leisurely pace, he takes hold of the megaphone-like magic item.

“Hello, I’m Ishud Regula, the representative of the new students. For most of you here, I guess we’re meeting for the first time.”

True to his words, there are only a handful of people who have directly faced Ishud.

“I originally had no intention of enrolling in this academy, but due to certain circumstances, I ended up joining… Hehehe, hahaha!”

Naturally, as the new student representative bursts into laughter, whispers start to emerge from students and parents, though they are spoken quietly.

“Really, I had planned to string together some more appropriate words… But you guys, your blatant hostility or killing intent is a bit too much.”

Facing the classmates projecting negative emotions, Ishud doesn’t counter with the same pressure… he doesn’t attempt to.

He simply, as if indicating the size of his capacity, accepts their emotions.

“Well, I can understand why you might feel that way, but if you have any complaints about the results, please address them to the academy first. I hope you’re not the same as the trash who just made a fool of himself a while ago.”

The trash who made that foolish spectacle is still present in this place, but Ishud declared without changing his attitude that the guy is indeed trash.

“Well then, we have three years of this academy life ahead of us… Let’s spend it meaningfully until graduation. That’s all.”

Students, especially internal students, could have easily started a riot, but they are not dull.

The moment Ishud finishes the welcoming speech, the principal releases a pressure that gives the illusion of something heavy resting on both shoulders, preventing a riot before it could even begin.

“It seems we’re in the same class, Gulf.”

“I’m relieved that we’re in the same class. It’s reassuring to know someone’s face… well, it’s just comforting, anyway.”

Since moving to the class, groups had already formed, and the two of them were completely isolated.

“By the way, Ishud is a noble, but…”

“Why am I disliked by the others, you mean?”

“Uh, yeah. I was wondering why.”

Certainly, Ishud, with his imposing physique and a slightly intense facial expression, might seem a bit intimidating at first glance.

However, once you actually talk to him, he doesn’t come across as the type that people would dislike.

But… the idiot providing the reason for the dislike quickly appeared.

“The frontier barbarians sure know how to make a lot of noise.”

“That guy just explained it casually. The Regula family, my family, is located in the frontier of this country. We spend our days fighting monsters, and since we rarely show up in the noble world, we get called frontier barbarians by the others like this.”

Using the classmate who confronted him, Ishud tries to explain to Gulf in a way that’s easy to understand. However, for Gulf, a commoner, it still wasn’t clear why Ishud is disliked.

“Heh… scum like you who cheat, don’t get too cocky.”

“Oh, come on. Were you perhaps sleeping during the entrance ceremony? Well, I can’t blame you. To be honest, listening to the big shots’ speeches is just boring. But… I don’t think anyone was sleeping when I was giving the welcoming speech as the new student representative, right?”

No matter how much the second guy tries to exert pressure, for Ishud, it’s like a goblin doing its best to intimidate.

While it might be a goblin—considered a monster with the term “just a goblin”—the guy in front of Ishud was as unappealing to him as a random stone lying around.

“Hmph! It seems like he has no intention of admitting his fault!”

“Before admitting fault, I never cheated. You can ask the teacher who was in charge of supervising the exam. Ugh… hey, if you’re going to pick a fight with me like this, at least get a bit stronger first.”

“Ughhhhh!”

“You’re too quick to throw a punch.”

“What!?”

The second guy, perhaps misunderstanding himself as a righteous agent or an absolute ruler, unleashed his fist without preparing the ground.

This time, Ishud didn’t take a punch, but instead, while still seated, threw his own fist, landing it squarely in the guy’s stomach.

Unlike the first guy, he didn’t send him flying, avoiding causing trouble for the other classmates. The second guy crumpled to the ground on his knees.

“““Wha…!?”””

Those who hadn’t witnessed the scene where the first guy was taken down with a single kick were now astonished and frozen at the sight before them.

“Ishud.. this person is also a noble, right?”

“That’s right. But you know, Gulf, I’m a noble too.”

“Oh, I see. In that case, it’s okay… right?”

Gulf’s understanding, to the point of thinking it’s okay to punch another noble just because they are both nobles, shows how loose his concept is regarding the nobility.

“You guys, take your seats. Huh, what on earth happened?”

“Teacher, it seems this guy was blabbering about how the examiners do not have the power to even catch the cheating of a mere fifteen-year-old in this academy.”

“Wha…!? I-I didn’t say such a thing!”

“After I corrected him, he suddenly tried to attack me, so I took care of it before he could.”

“I see… Well, as long as you haven’t broken windows or desks, there’s nothing to say. You, get back to your seat.”

“Ugh… understood.”

As the second guy, for some reason… for some reason, he had a conviction that the teacher who happened to be the class homeroom would unquestionably be on his side. Despite wearing a dissatisfied expression at the outcome, he reluctantly returned to his seat.

(Really, causing trouble so soon… Considering he’s from the Regula family, it might be expected, but it seems he’s not quite the madman as rumored.)

It was an unbelievable outcome.

The history of Flaveld Academy had changed because of a single external student.

While it’s a story that’s hard to believe, the teachers who oversaw the combat exam and others praised Ishud’s abilities.

Additionally, the teacher who became Ishud’s homeroom instructor believed everything he said.

Even though he believed everything… Ishud could still easily imagine foolish students clinging to him.

To thoroughly corner such fools, Ishud conveyed some exaggerated thoughts.

Despite reevaluating Ishud’s abilities based on those words and actions, the teacher still had a strong desire for him not to cause any trouble.
