Just another Isekai Lover~
Chapter 8: The Saint Joins
“I finally caught up with you.”
Smiling, a girl descended from the back of a pure white scaled running lizard, a raptor.
I see. So that was the source of the strange footsteps.
“Good day. I’ve been wanting to see you.”
—Fimia Lekers.
A priestess with the nickname “Saint” and a member of “Silhasta.”
A highly skilled user of powerful sacred magic.
“Fimia? Why are you here?”
“Oh, I see! Rolo-kun is with you too.”
“Hey, Fimia. Answer the question. What are you doing in a place like this at this time of night?”
In response to my words, Fimia smiled gracefully.
“I followed you.”
“Who?”
“You guys?”
Tilting her head, the Saint made eye contact with Rolo and me.
What does she mean by following us?
“What happened to ‘Silhasta’?”
“I left.”
“Hey, then… is ‘Silhasta’ now just Albert and Saran as a two-person party?”
“I wonder? Saran-san said he was looking for additional members.”
Seems like it’s their problem… or maybe it’s really their problem.
She left, just like us.
“But why did you leave?”
“Doesn’t Rolo know?”
To my question, Rolo seemed a bit stuck.
Is there something he remembers?
“Hmm… things have gotten a bit strange. Hey, Rolo? What’s going on?”
“Well, you know…”
“You’re terrible at covering up, seriously.”
Seems like I’m the only one who hasn’t fully grasped the situation. Nevertheless, I left “Silhasta” for personal reasons. I don’t intend to delve deep into Fimia’s situation either.
“Well, fine. You said you followed us, Fimia.”
“Yes.”
“Then, can you help us a bit? We’re planning to enter unexplored territory.”
After a moment of surprise at my words, Fimia turned towards us.
“Something is happening, right?”
“Yeah. It seems something has been off around here lately. Just yesterday, we killed a Vampire Goat.”
“That doesn’t sound good.”
A clever woman isn’t bad. Especially if she’s an adventurer.
“There might be a big problem in this entire area if we’re not careful.”
“Do you have any idea about the cause?”
“No, not at all. Even if we use the guild for a large-scale search, we have no starting point. So, we thought we’d look into it ourselves.”
It’s a somewhat haphazard plan. Saran would probably sneer at it. He would suggest a more efficient plan
“I understand. In that case, may I join your partiy?”
“Do we have to go back to the dairy city of Hilte?”
“No, I’ll send a letter bird for official documents to the guild. Could we just get your signature?”
I see, that’s a clever move. As expected of Fimia. Sharp-minded. Well, the members of ‘Silhasta’ were all quick-witted individuals, except for me and Albert, that is.
“Alright then. When dawn breaks, let’s head towards Malhas. With horses and the running lizard raptor, we should arrive by sunset.”
“Hehe, I’m looking forward to it. I’ve never been to Malhas.”
“There’s nothing there; it’s just a border region…”
I sighed lightly as Fimia smiled happily. This sheltered young lady seems out of place in strange places. She’s very reliable during adventures, though.
“Thank you, Fimia. It’s reassuring to have you.”
“Once again, we’re together, Rolo-san.”
Watching the two hold hands and laugh, I let out a wry smile.
Fimia said she followed us, but it was most likely Rolo she was following.
To be honest, I had a hunch that one of the reasons Albert had a grudge against Rolo was because of their relationship.
Whether they were hiding it or just playing it down, the closeness between the two was evident. It’s not difficult to imagine that they might be romantically involved.
I don’t intend to meddle in people’s love affairs, but it must have been unbearable for Albert. He was quite taken with Fimia.
“Ugh… I wonder if Saran will come like this. Without Albert.”
“Saran-san worked hard to have ‘Silhasta’ selected by the country…”
“It’s impossible, huh?”
He probably has no reason to follow us. Maybe he’ll be lured by Fimia, but who knows.
“………..”
“What’s wrong, Jurg?”
“I just felt a slight nausea thinking about unnecessary things. Anyway, if Fimia is here, let’s set up the tent. You guys should get some sleep.”
I thought Rolo and I could just sleep around the campfire, but leaving Fimia lying on the ground wasn’t an option. Even so, if we were setting up a tent, there was no need for Rolo to sleep on the ground. As long as the sounds didn’t leak, it would be fine for them to snuggle a bit. It’s been a while since they reunited. I’ll pretend not to hear anything.
“What do you plan to do, Jurg?”
“Yeah, if you’re on night watch, let’s take turns.”
What does he think I’m concerned about? Seriously.
“Shut up. I can stay awake for two nights without a problem. It’s more dangerous if the mage isn’t in perfect condition.”
Waving my hand, I pulled the tent out of the backpack on the ground.
