Just another Isekai Lover~

Chapter 27: Adventurer’s Guild, Malhas Branch

Albert found himself transported to the capital in a prisoner transport carriage enclosed by bars. In these situations, Viscount Hilte, the rightful ruler of this territory, typically serves as the judge. However, or rather, unfortunately, ‘Silhasta’ is a nationally selected party. The leader committing a serious crime, even if it was an attempt, was a significant problem. Thus, he would face trial in the Royal Court.

Confined within the cage like a spectacle, Albert behaved threateningly, scattering curses around. Even though they had parted ways, it was slightly unbearable to witness. He was an annoying guy, but back in the early days, he wasn’t like this.

“It’s an attempt, and I also provided a written statement. He won’t receive the death penalty.”

Beside me, Saran said as we watched the departing carriage.

“Do you forget that I was trying to deal with him myself?”

“If you were to kill him, wouldn’t you regret it? Unconsciously, you are more compassionate than you think.”

Is that really the case?

I’m not so sure about that.

“Now, even though we’ve disrupted one piece of the unwanted future’s groundwork, we must take our next steps.”

“Yeah, I’ve reinforced the protection of the keystones with Fimia and the church members.”

“Yes, I will also go later to construct magic defenses. Besides that, here you go.”

Saran handed me a bundle of parchment.

“Just like last time?”

“This time, I increased the reward since it’s urgent.”

Flipping through the request forms, I confirmed various monsters like the Greyback Bear, the Giant Forest Lizard Travi, and even the Hard-Scaled Serpent. They were a collection of troublesome and ferocious creatures.

“I had Fimia-san recall it for me. It’s a monster that was seen in a rampage at full speed.”

“…..”

“Isn’t it going to be replaced by another monster?”

“There’s a possibility, but eliminating each avoidable threat is the standard procedure.”

Fimia’s future visions through Revelation can be altered. Essentially, that magic is like a ‘God’s Consultation Room,’ as the ‘Saint’ described it. It literally reveals preparations for troubles that are about to happen.

We’ve already prevented the ‘destruction of the keystones.’ If we handle it properly, we can thwart the scarred beast’s plan. … Plan?

“Hey, Saran. What’s the real goal of the scarred beast?”

“I don’t know what monsters think. After all, they’re beasts that eat people. There’s even the possibility that it’s just their appetite.”

That’s possible. But… would they go through such convoluted means to incite Albert just for that? I understand that they used the presence of the barriers as an opportunity, but they didn’t attack even when there were no barriers.

“There’s a possibility of the existence of the ‘One Gold’… Well, who knows. So, why is it pushing the frontlines of the monsters? Is there something in the depths of the forest?”

“That’s a good perspective.”

Saran replied to my murmurs.

This guy seems to have grasped something else…?

“Stop, stop. Thinking is your job. I’ll take care of this.”

“Understood. If everything comes together, I’ll share it with you. Right now, it’s just speculation piled upon speculation.”

“Got it. Well then, I’m off.”

I waved lightly to Saran and left the square of Malhas with the wagon tracks behind. The two lines leading outside the village seemed to represent decisively diverging paths with Albert, and I let out a small sigh.

“Jurg-san! Perfect timing!”

The one who greeted me upon arrival at ‘New City’ was Kati, the head of the Malhas branch of the Adventurer’s Guild.

“Oh, Kati. You’re the one with good timing. What’s the matter over there?”

“Hey! Jurg-san is bullying me…!”

“Don’t say things that give people the wrong idea. So, what’s the matter over there?”

“Please help me.”

She brought work for me, but now I find myself helping with the job. It’s happened several times before, so I’m used to it.

“Just post it on the bulletin board or something.”

“It’s more efficient if you assign the tasks. Besides, it won’t cause any complaints if it’s from you.”

Tugging at my sleeves with teary eyes, Kati looks at me. I can’t be too indifferent since she came all the way here.

Moreover, the request I have today is from Saran and is considered urgent. I feel a little nervous about passing it off.

“All right, bring a chair. I’ll help until you can handle it on your own.”

“Yay! Jurg-san, you’re the Heavenly Break Strike after all! You understand!”

The title has nothing to do with it. Your idea of having me, who usually just smashes monsters with brute force, do paperwork is unbelievable.

“Oh, Jurg-san.”

As soon as I sat down, an adventurer with a familiar face approached.

This is De Gaulle, the leader of the mid-ranking party “Sapti”.

“Oh, De Gaulle. It’s good timing. I have a job for you.”

“Wait, seriously? I was just coming to look for some.”

“If it’s you guys, you can handle the Greyback Bear, right? Go hunt them down quickly. This time, there’s a bonus.”

“Oh, really!?”

While his tone was light, he was someone with reliable skills, and his party, ‘Sapti,’ was quite capable. Assigning requests to those who can handle them reliably is the quickest and safest way.

“All right, then!”

“Yeah. Kati, I leave the paperwork to you.”

“Understood!”

De Gaulle, with a confident smile, stretches his mustache at Kati. In the bustling ‘New City,’ filled with adventurers, the presence of receptionist Kati is like a breath of fresh air. Even she herself seems to be effective, lifting everyone’s spirits with her skillful compliments. Perhaps she’s unexpectedly competent.

“Well then, I’ll be waiting for a good report.”

“Yeah, don’t overdo it.”

Waving a casual goodbye to De Gualle as he leaves, I noticed other adventurers gathering around the makeshift counter.

“Jurg-san, please, I’m counting on you too!”

“Give me some good ones to take on!”

“Wait a moment, everyone. Wait your turn.”

While looking at the faces of the gathering adventurers, I started flipping through the request forms in order.
