Just another Isekai Lover~

Chapter 79: Neil and Cain

“Well… it’s quite boring, isn’t it? Shall we have some small talk?”

Neil couldn’t hide his surprise at the young man in front of him, who casually initiated conversation. This man effortlessly dispatched several mine ants that approached them with his magic gun-sword.

His power output was far higher than when other soldiers used it, proving his exceptional magical talent.

He might even be stronger than Vigna…

Such thoughts crossed Neil’s mind due to the overwhelming power this man displayed. His instincts were telling him that this man was not to be underestimated. And there was something oddly familiar about him…

“I’m fond of maid uniforms, you know? What about you? When a girl wears that outfit, no matter how strong-willed she might be, or even if she’s a noblewoman, she becomes my cherished servant. Seeing them wear that manifestation of servitude makes me feel reassured, you know.”

“Well, I… I like being tortured by beautiful women. It’s kind of like… it makes me feel alive, you know?”

Thinking it wasn’t wise to lie, I came out with my preference, and Cain chuckled behind his mask.

“Hehe, you have quite an interesting taste as well. And those eyes of yours are lively. How’s life under Grace’s rule in Asgard?”

“Well…”

I hesitated for a moment on how to answer, but remembering that he was an adventurer, I decided to speak honestly. Besides, Grace recommended him, so there shouldn’t be any issue.

“I’m grateful to Grace-sama for allowing me to live in Asgard. I was a refugee originally… It wouldn’t have been strange if I and my sister starved to death. I have nothing but gratitude.”

“Hmm… And now you’re fighting in such a remote place. Yet, you’re still thankful, huh?”

After pondering for a moment at Cain’s narrowed eyes behind his mask, Neil nodded.

“Of course. Even this time, I’m fighting to protect the people of Dwell. It’s much more in line with Grace-sama’s ideals than just hurting others, and I admire that.”

“I see… Fighting to protect someone, huh… Maybe it’s because you can create something by doing just that… Is that what Grace’s Asgard is about?”

“Cain-san…?”

Neil noticed a change in Cain’s demeanor, as if he was pondering something deeply. The frivolousness from earlier seemed to have vanished, and it made Neil slightly worried.

Perhaps noticing Neil’s concern, Cain changed the subject.

“By the way, what’s your sister up to?”

“Oh, she’s working as a maid at Grace-sama’s mansion, but…”

“Hmm, I’d like to meet her sometime…”

“No way! Absolutely not, you’re terrifying!!”

“We’ve got ants coming in!!”

Neil and Cain quickly readied their weapons, indicating the end of their banter. Seeing only a few opponents, they didn’t consider them much of a threat until they noticed one of them was unusually large.

“What’s with that one… Our attacks aren’t working on it!”

Startled by their companion’s words, they widened their eyes. The large ant had indeed deflected the bullets from the magic gun swords.
