Chapter 64: VS Mine Ant

The first workshop we were attempting to reclaim had become a nest for the mineral ants. With such a large number present, it’s true that dwarves and even Kyle’s group alone wouldn’t be able to break through. And as for us now…

“I’ve detected a sense of combativeness from the Master. Although their numbers are considerable, can we prevail against these mine ants?”

“Yeah, head-on would be tough… but I have knowledge about mine ants. Galatea, bring the ones similar to what you have. And Vigna, I’ll signal when ready; be prepared to charge in immediately.”

“Yes, leave it to me, Master.”

And so, I organized information about the mineral ants using the “World Library.”

————————————————– ———————

Mine Ants

A type of magical creature resembling ants that feed on minerals. They enhance their bodies by consuming minerals as food, so their strength depends on the minerals they consume. They tend to prefer minerals with stronger magical properties.

There are powerful individuals such as the queen, who gives birth to offspring, and the soldier ants. The queen ant is usually protected carefully deep within the nest. Soldier ants have a thin emotional capacity and lack pain sensation, so they follow the queen ant’s orders obediently, making it difficult to improvise strategies against them.

Occasionally, there are individuals with strong self-awareness. When these ants gain significant power, they leave the nest along with the princess ant to establish a new nest elsewhere.

The knowledge gained from understanding mineral ants based on the information obtained about the mine ants in Dwell has been deepened. With the addition of the abilities of the “World Library,” this information is even more detailed than the original. If I inquire further, it will likely provide even more insights.

I once again express gratitude for the skill known as the “World Library.” Thanks to this power, mineral ants have transformed from mysterious creatures into mere enemies…

“Sorry to keep you waiting, Master. What should I do with this?”

Galatea returned holding a square lump of mithril wrapped in cloth in her arms. This is the key to our current operation. Galatea is lifting it effortlessly, but its size is not something a human could carry. This time, we transported it on Neil’s steam-powered car. And… with a lump this large, it would take the mine ants some time to transport it as well.

“Galatea!! Throw that with all your might over to the other side of that wall!”

“Yes, leave it to me, Master. Here we go!!”

With a cute shout, the not-so-cute mass of metal is hurled over to the other side of the first workshop’s wall, and with a loud crack, it smashes against the wall, crushing a single mineral ant.

As for the ants, as soon as one of them touches the mithril lump, it raises its head and looks up at the sky.

“What…?” I start to wonder, and then I notice Galatea beside me, frowning.

“How noisy they are…”

“I see, Galatea can hear their signals, huh? It’s time to move.”

“Understood. Leave it to me.”

The mine ants are swarming around the mineral like ants on a candy. Presumably, the queen ant’s command is to bring back food.

“…so, let’s carry the Princess, huh?”

“Hehe, I thought Master might prefer this.”

As Galatea carries me down, Vigna and the others approach. The soldiers form ranks and aim their guns.

“Grace… it’s up to you to give the order. This is the first step to saving Douel.”

“Yeah, everyone, fire!!”

“YEAHHHH!!!”

With my command, everyone fires their magic gunblades. Beams of light emanate from Vigna’s gun, melting heads like candy, while the soldiers gradually chip away at the mine ants. Some ants are struck in vital spots and perish immediately.

Even amidst this chaos, the mine ants seem unable to decide whether to retrieve the high-quality food or to eliminate the immediate threat in front of them.

“Hahaha, this is my new power!!”

And with that, the few remaining mine ants that had approached are brought to the brink of death by the shotgun mounted on Neil’s steam-powered car, then finished off by the gunfire of their companions.

“We’ve won. Hahaha, let these ants be the cornerstone of Grace Vermilion’s new reign!!”

“You’re acting all cool, but you’re still being carried around like a princess by Galatea…”

“I’ve detected feelings of jealousy from Vigna-sama. Would you like me to carry you too, Vigna-sama?”

“I’d rather not be treated like luggage!!”

“We did it!! We defeated the ants!!”

“Yeah, we did…”

And so, we emerged victorious. Seeing Kyle, with a look of astonishment, being embraced by Ruby, who looked genuinely happy, I couldn’t help but grin triumphantly.
