Chapter 50

After defeating the Stone Armadillo, we headed back to the castle with the wounded Dwell soldiers. It would have been a good demonstration of the use of magic bayonets and other weapons when we saved them.

The royal castle of Dwell is at the foot of the mountain where the dwarves live. And when you look up, the mountain you see is so high that even if you look up, you can’t see the top of the mountain well because it is hidden by clouds.

It’s said that the foot of the mountain is dominated by humans and the mines by dwarves. How could they ever think of living in such a place? The steep slope of the mountain is sure to strengthen my legs and back.

“But then again… I don’t see any dwarves here, only humans…..”

“Yes…. and it’s not very lively……”

Vigna agreed with my soliloquy. Steam cars are a rarity, I guess. The people are looking at me in various ways, but their cheeks are skinny and they are somewhat listless.

I glanced toward the marketplace, but there were not many people there and it was not very lively. This is a pretty cornered place. While I was thinking that, I arrived at the royal castle.

The city’s lively atmosphere was semi-proportional to the magnificent gates. Not only that, but the construction of the royal castle was tremendously magnificent. The towers soared to the heavens, and the castle was decorated with elaborate ornaments here and there.

I realized her mistake and teased her. Vigna’s face turned red and she thanked me in a frustrated …… but not ungrateful manner. When we entered the royal capital, Ein and the others said they had something to do and left.

I was a little curious about her last words, but she said I would find out soon enough.

Galatea and the soldier from Dwell helped her talked to the guards guarding the gate, and it seems that permission to enter the castle was easily granted, and the gate was opened with the sound of a trumpet.

It usually takes longer for people from other countries to enter a castle, but since we were reinforcements from Vermilion and we had just saved a soldier, the process seemed to be a breeze.

“Master, they’re ready. The King of Dwell is waiting for you.”

“Oh, thank you.”

Vigna starts the steam car as soon as Galatea confirms that we’re getting in with those words. The other soldiers are staying at home in the city.

Even though we are allies, we are still other countries. Only we, the representatives, are allowed to enter.

“Master …… I have sensed relief and a feeling of being saved from the people of Dwell. It seems that everyone is welcoming us. I’m a little happy to know that Master’s efforts are being recognized.”

“I wonder, I’m confused about what Ain-san said……”

I can’t help but notice that she said it as if the King of Dwell can’t be relied upon. Well, I guess I can’t think of anything to say.

And then a mature man in fine armor greeted us as we stopped the steam car.

“Thank you for coming from so far away. My name is Kaiser, the head of the Order of Dwell. I apologize for the long journey, but may you please meet my king at once?”

“Yes, of course. I’m Grace Vermilion. Thank you for welcoming me and for your prompt response.”

I got off at the door opened by Galatea, who got off first, and greeted Kaiser back. I can tell that the armor he is wearing is quite a work of art, as he is a Knight Commander.

The high quality mithril and finely decorated armor would be difficult to make except for the Bowman class. I guess it’s called dwell, even if it’s corrupt. ……

“I’m sorry, if I could answer that question, but what would you call that weapon? And what’s the woman ……”

“This is a magic bayonet, a special weapon given only to the first knight of the citizens of Asgard.”

“I’m Galatea. I’m not a golem, by the way, but a robot.”

The two of them spoke fluently, especially Galatea, which surprised Kaiser for a moment, but he immediately returned it with a smile. I mean, I don’t think Vigna’s magic bayonet had such a setting…. and Galatea looks happy to see a surprised Kaiser.

“I see….. I was convinced when I saw the weapon and the new vehicle. I’m sure the rumors about Grace-sama, the rare inventor who developed Asgard with Bowman-sama, weren’t exaggerated at all. It’s an honor to meet you.”

Kaiser bows his head to me, looking somewhat pleased. He knows about Bowman too and I’m glad to hear that my efforts have reached other countries.

“It’s just that I may cause you some discomfort in the future. I apologize in advance for that.”

He said this in a truly apologetic tone. I wonder what he meant by that?
