Just another Isekai Lover~

Chapter 3: Old man acquires skills ①

I came out into a clearing as I continued to walk through the forest.

(It feels like the kind of place where a boss would appear in a game.)

*Glance.*

I’ll check out this place.

Apart from where I came out, there’s no path to speak of.

It seems like the only way to enter this place is through the path I took.

The rest is surrounded by grass and trees in a circle.

It’s that kind of field.

It feels like the kind of place where a boss would appear any moment now.

“It’s my first time fighting a boss solo. I’m nervous…”

I walk towards the center cautiously.

And then, it happened.

“Gwaaaaaahhhhhh!!!!”

*Rustle!*

A monster emerged from the bush in front of me.

Name: Goblin Elite

Level: 15

(The level difference between us is 9…)

“Gwaaaaaahhhhhh!!!!”

It gave a mighty roar and looked at me.

(That’s huge…)

Normal goblins are at most around 1 meter tall, but this one is about 2 meters.

Its width is also about a size larger than mine.

If goblins were sumo wrestlers, I’d be an average adult.

That’s the kind of physical difference there is.

“It looks bad if I get caught.”

*Thud!*

*Thud!*

The goblin slowly approaches, swinging its club.

And then, it happened.

“Gyiiiiiiiiiiiiii!!!!”

Two goblins leaped out from the bushes on both sides.

(I see, they’re not going to let me fight one-on-one, huh?)

Surprisingly clever.

A small goblin to my left and right.

And a Goblin Elite right in front of me.

(First, let’s take care of the small fries on the sides.)

As I gather my thoughts, the goblins immediately rush towards me.

“Gyiiiiiiiiiiiiii!!!!”

These guys aren’t very bright.

So they don’t anticipate my actions.

They swing their weapons down where I was standing.

*Thunk!*

The two goblins swing their clubs where I was standing.

“Sei!”

I swung my sword horizontally, defeating both of them at once.

[Your level has increased.]

[You have acquired the skill: Defense Ignore.]

(Huh? What’s this? A skill? I didn’t ask for this! How did I get something like this?)

As I wonder in confusion, another window pops up.

[Defense Ignore is a passive skill.]

[Defense Ignore effect is activated.]

At that moment,

“Gwaaaaaahhhhhh!!!!”

The Goblin Elite came running.

Of course, straight towards me.

As it closed the distance to about a meter, the goblin jumped!

“Gwaaaaaahhhhhh!!!!”

The goblin raised its club directly overhead while in mid-air.

It intends to slam it down on me.

(My evasion direction, should it be right, left?)

No.

(It’s forward.)

Tap.

I run towards the Goblin Elite and somersault under its legs.

BOOM!!!!!

The Goblin Elite had slammed its club down where I was standing.

The club is now buried in the ground.

*Guh.*

*Guh.*

It’s trying to pull the club out of the ground.

“I thought so.”

I learned from the previous battle with the goblins.

That they swing their weapons with brute force without much thought.

Therefore, they leave themselves wide open after an attack.

Furthermore, I have the advantage of being behind it.

“It’s my victory.”

I also jumped up and thrust my sword towards the goblin’s neck.

However, at that moment…

*Clang!*

A sound I didn’t anticipate rang out.

What was that sound?

(?! My sword, it hit something hard…?)

Upon closer inspection, I noticed that the goblin’s neck was equipped with something.

Name: Hard Armor (Neck Only)

Type: Armor

Defense: 10

(Because it was positioned high up, I couldn’t see it. My lack of observation, huh? Should I reset? No, it’s fine. This one’s weak.)

That’s what I was thinking at that moment.

[Defense Ignore activated.]

*Crash!*

My sword shattered the armor and pierced the Goblin Elite’s neck.

“Gwaaaaaahhhhhh…”

*Thud.*

The Goblin Elite fell forward towards me.

“H-haha, no way.”

For a moment, I thought it might be impossible due to the armor, but thanks to the skill, I defeated it easily.

“So, that’s how Defense Ignore works.”

This skill seems incredibly powerful.

Ignoring armor and dealing damage like that.

(This feels like a broken skill…)

With that thought in mind, I sheathed my weapon.

Then, I decided to check the dropped items.

It was all money.

Total: 10,000 gels.

Do they only drop money? I’d like to see other drops too.

(But I guess it’s better than getting goblin materials as drops?)

“Let’s think about it,” I decided, and stopped overthinking.

Instead, there’s something else bothering me.

The skill I acquired during combat, Defense Ignore.

(Let’s understand how much I can utilize this skill.)

I wandered around this area for a bit.

Then, I noticed a rock.

In games, rocks are often indestructible objects…

I stood in front of the rock with my sword.

It was a fairly large and sturdy-looking rock, about a meter wide.

As I stood before it, its status was displayed.

Name: Unbreakable Rock

Health: 5

Defense: ∞

Fixed Damage: Nullified

(Seems like an unbreakable rock at first glance. The name says it all.)

But its health is ultimately only 5.

If I can get past its defenses, it feels like I can break it.

In theory, at least.

*Phew~*

I breathed lightly and poised my sword.

Normally, swinging the sword would result in a “clang” sound like in a game and it would bounce off. But I have [Defense Ignore].

Now, let’s see if it can bypass the Defense: ∞…

The value of this skill seems to be determined by whether it can ignore this.
