Rest screamed instinctively as he watched his friend get swallowed whole right before his eyes.
The snake that devoured Yuri was the second giant serpent—it seemed there had been two of them from the beginning.

Just like he had done with the quadruped earlier, he used a binding spell.
Winds lashed out and clamped the serpent’s jaws shut.
“GISHUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUHH!?”
“That’s it. No more poison… time to end this!”
Rest kicked off the ground and leapt toward the snake.
From his right hand, he conjured a black orb—an all-devouring sphere of darkness—and slammed it into the snake’s head.
“Star Eater!”
“Gishu…”
The snake’s entire head was swallowed by the black sphere and vanished from this world.
The rest of the body thudded to the ground, blood pouring from the cleanly severed stump.
Rest quickly scanned the area with Presence Detection—but found no other threats.
“Yuri! Are you okay? Hang on, I’m coming!”
He sensed her presence inside the torso.
She was alive—still safe.
Carefully, so as not to hurt her, Rest prepared to cut open the body to rescue her.

But—before he could use magic—the serpent’s body suddenly twitched.
Despite being unmistakably dead, the remaining torso began spasming, and then—

The snake burst open from the inside.

With far too much exposed, she definitely couldn’t walk around like that in public.
