Just another Isekai Lover~

Chapter 274: It’s a Date (Yuri Arc) ③

Rest lay down on the hill with his head resting on Yuri’s lap.

Above him stretched a vast, blue sky, where clouds of all shapes drifted lazily by.

Thanks to the magic barrier, the chill from outside was kept at bay, and a gentle breeze carrying the scent of greenery wafted around them.

“Phew…”

“How is it, Rest?”

“…It feels nice.”

“Why the polite tone?”

“Dunno… just felt like it.”

It really was a good pillow.

Soft, yet with a firm core—it was incredibly comfortable.

And on top of that, Yuri’s body gave off a faint floral scent, making it all the more relaxing.

(It’s not perfume… maybe soap?)

“……”

“Are you falling asleep, Rest?”

“…Yeah… I’m going to sleep…”

Unlike earlier, when he’d been carried princess-style, this time he felt like he could actually rest.

Surrendering himself to the sleepiness that had begun to creep in, Rest let his heavy eyelids close.

Like sinking into the ocean’s depths, his consciousness began to drift away.

It felt like he was lying atop the clouds—he was on the verge of deep, peaceful sleep.

“…Snnn… snnn…”

A few minutes later, Rest was breathing softly, fast asleep.

It was the third day of his dates. While going out with Viola and Primula had been fun, it had clearly also worn him out.

Now, his fatigue caught up with him, pulling him into a deep slumber.

“GUOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHH!!”
“GISHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHH!!”

“Wha—!?”

But… the peaceful nap didn’t last long.

Suddenly, monstrous roars rang out and jolted him awake.

“W-What was that!?”

Rest shot up with a cry.

“Oh, Rest. You woke up, huh?”

“Yuri… What happened!?”

“Ah, that. Looks like things got noisy down there.”

“‘That’… you mean monsters?”

Looking down from the hill, he saw monsters in the midst of a battle.

“A… a mongoose and a snake…!?”

The two monsters fighting were a massive snake and a furry quadruped.

Both were the size of elephants, clashing violently in a fierce fight.

“They suddenly showed up and started battling. Don’t recognize either of them.”

“Maybe they wandered here from the Sabnock Plains…”

Rest recalled hearing that, with the ongoing development of the Sabnock Plains, some monsters had escaped into the surrounding areas.

“Apparently, no serious damage has been reported yet…”

“But having monsters that size near the capital is still dangerous.”

Yuri’s comment earned a nod of agreement from Rest.

“We should probably take them down. Even if indirectly, it wouldn’t sit right if people got hurt because of the plains’ development.”

“Right, in that case, let’s do that thing… um… gyofu-nori?”

“You mean ‘gyofu no ri’—taking advantage of others fighting.”

Since the monsters were fighting each other, they decided to wait until one of them was defeated.

It was a bit underhanded… but they planned to strike the weakened victor.

“GUOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHH!!”
“GISHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHH!!”

“That said… it might still take a while for them to finish.”

“In that case, why don’t we have a snack while we wait?”

Yuri rummaged through her bag and pulled out a wrapped bundle.

“I even baked meat pies! They got a little burnt, but I guarantee the flavor!”

“Wait, hold up—meat pies—!”

“Guo?”
“Kisha?”

Maybe it was the smell of meat, but the two monsters suddenly stopped fighting.

They turned toward the hill… and locked eyes with Rest.

“Oh no…”

“GUOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHH!!”
“GISHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHH!!”

The two monsters changed targets.

They had now set their sights on Rest and Yuri, charging furiously up the hill.

Apparently, the shared target made them forget their own conflict.

“Ah—oops. That… might’ve been my bad!”

“You always mess things up, seriously!”

Rest was aware he was a trouble magnet, but it seemed Yuri was even worse.

And just like that, the two of them were forced into a battle with two massive monsters.
