Chapter 260: Yuri Catreya’s Marriage Proposal

Bloodstained Yuri Catreya had burst into the room.

Her sudden entrance was shocking enough—but the words that came flying out of her mouth were even more so.

A sudden marriage proposal.

“Alright, hold on! Let’s not panic!”

Rest was, in truth, the most shaken of them all.

Even so, he somehow managed to pull himself together with sheer willpower.

“First of all—Viola, Primula. This was just as unexpected for me as it was for you, okay? I didn’t flirt with her or make any advances, so please don’t misunderstand!”

Even if they were okay with polygamy and mistresses, it was still worth clarifying.

“Y-Yeah, got it…”

“I understand…”

Viola and Primula both nodded, having regained their composure.

Next, Rest addressed the servants who had followed after Yuri.

“Um, you two—could you prepare a bath and set out some clean clothes for her? And also clean the floor and hallway, please!”

“U-Understood.”

“We’ll get right on it…”

Once they had left, Rest cleared his throat and turned to Yuri.

“And now… Yuri. Can you tell me what’s going on?”

“Sure! So, marriage is when a man and woman become husband and wife and then have children—”

“Yeah, I wasn’t asking for the definition of marriage. What I meant was… could you walk me through everything that happened between when we last saw each other and now, in order?”

The last time Rest had seen Yuri was when they went to subjugate the worm monsters together. After they returned from the eastern side of the Sabnock Plains, they had parted ways—and that was that.

There hadn’t been even a hint of romance at the time.

So why was she suddenly proposing marriage and claiming she’d just taken down the Knight Commander?

“Ah, sorry. I guess I skipped ahead a bit.”

“A bit? That was a lot.”

“Well then, allow me to explain!”

With a big, bright smile, Yuri proudly puffed out her chest.

“After we last met… I realized something. I want to marry you, Rest.”

“Okay…”

“So, I went and kicked my father.”

“…Okay.”

“And after I defeated him, I came here. Marry me.”

“……………………okay?”

“Ah, great! So you will marry me!”

“No—wait! That’s not what I meant by ‘okay’!”

Unable to take it anymore, Rest shouted.

“That explanation doesn’t help at all! First of all—why did you fall in love with me!?”

“Well, you saved me when I fell, we took classes together… and we even shared a bed. Eventually, I realized I missed you when you weren’t around. I wanted to be with you forever. I hadn’t realized it before, but I guess… I really do love you. Let’s get married and have children.”

“…Thanks!”

He thanked her—because while he had asked for an explanation, he didn’t expect her to be so brutally straightforward.

It made him want to roll around on the floor in embarrassment.

“Well… I kind of figured it out.”

Viola said.

“It was pretty obvious, Lady Yuri.”

Primula agreed.

The two girls exchanged knowing looks.

Rest had known that Yuri liked him.

But with her wild and free-spirited personality, he hadn’t been sure if it was that kind of affection.

“And… why did you defeat the Knight Commander?”

“My father is against me going outside or dating any men. As long as he’s around, I knew he’d never approve of me marrying you.”

“Wait—don’t tell me you killed him?”

If she couldn’t get married with him alive, then did that mean… she got rid of him?

“No, he’s still alive. I defeated him, but I didn’t kill him.”

“Oh, thank goodness.”

“His arms and legs were crushed, his neck twisted about 180 degrees, and nearly half the blood in his body was gone—but he’s still my father. That much won’t kill him.”

“Are you sure he’s not dead!?”

That sounded very fatal to any normal person.

“Father didn’t approve of the marriage—but the rule of the Catreya Marquis family is that the strong are right. Since he lost, he has no right to object!”

“I-I see…”

“So, marry me! Don’t worry—I’ll make you happy!”

“…………”

Rest glanced helplessly at Viola and Primula.

Both looked equally troubled, but eventually sighed and spoke up.

“For now… let’s get you into a bath and get you cleaned up.”

“My sister and I will join you. We’ll hear the whole story.”

“Ah…!”

Dragging the still-glowing Yuri out of the room, the two girls took her away.

Left alone, Rest finally let out a long sigh of relief—grateful to have survived the whirlwind that had just hit.
