Chapter 210: Unleashing a New Technique

Rest had a signature style—compound magic—combining multiple spells into a single, devastating attack.

One of his go-to techniques involved amplifying and compressing a simple fireball, drastically increasing its destructive power. His new move, Kagutsuchi, Flame God of Creation, was a refined evolution of this approach.

Flash!

GYAO!

Blinding light burst forth right before the Elder Worm, robbing it of its vision while Rest quickly distanced himself. He wasn’t running away; he was preparing for the spell’s activation.

Fireball.

At a safe distance, Rest conjured a small flame in his palm—a simple, beginner-level spell so familiar he could cast it blindfolded.

Amplify. Compress.

Layer upon layer of magic enhanced the flame, intensifying its heat while compressing its size.

“If this were any ordinary monster, this much would be enough to take it down.”

He mused.

But against the Elder Worm, it wouldn’t even scratch the surface.

“So, what’s the solution? Simple: if there’s not enough firepower, add more fuel to the fire.”

Amplify.

With another layer of amplification, the flame grew fiercer, its heat surging. Yet, it remained compact due to compression magic.

The orb began to waver under its own instability. Theoretically, infinite layering of Amplify could exponentially increase the magic’s power.

(But that’s just theory.)

Enhanced magic often grew unstable, risking dispersion or outright explosion.

(However, I’ve got a trick up my sleeve…)

Barrier.

Lines of light traced intricate geometric patterns in mid-air, forming a glowing, three-dimensional magic circle around the flame.

The barrier stabilized the unstable fireball, allowing it to burn even brighter. This was Rest’s innovation—melding barrier techniques with offensive magic to create something entirely new.

Amplify. Compress. Amplify. Compress. Amplify.

Trapped within the barrier, the flame’s heat surged exponentially. Though the orb’s size remained constant, its energy swelled like a roaring furnace.

“Encasing magic in a barrier for stability, then repeatedly amplifying its power… It’s a straightforward concept. Surprised no one thought of it before.”

Rest muttered as he continued to build the inferno.

It might have seemed simple to him, but in reality, it was a groundbreaking innovation—a Copernican revolution in magic theory.

For most mages, encasing raw magic within a barrier wasn’t even a consideration. Even if they thought of it, executing it would be nearly impossible. A barrier sturdy enough to contain such unstable energy demanded immense magic power. Adding layers of amplification only compounded the strain.

Rest, with his limitless magic, was uniquely capable of this feat.

Amplify. Compress. Amplify. Compress. Amplify.

Moreover, casting both barrier and offensive spells simultaneously required an extraordinary level of dexterity—something even sage-class mages struggled to achieve.

Few, if any, could match Rest’s skill.

Amplify, compress, amplify, compress, amplify… All right, that should do it.

The fireball had grown to its full potential.

Contained within the barrier, the flame burned fiercely—like a miniature sun.

Rest was certain now. This flame was strong enough to take down the Elder Worm.

“The only problem is… I don’t really know how powerful this is. It might even take me out in the process…”

GYAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

“Oh, looks like I’ve been spotted…”

The Elder Worm had found Rest’s location.

Its massive body coiled and surged toward him, jaws wide in a predatory lunge.

With the fireball’s current state, dodging and weaving like before was no longer an option.

“Ah, forget it—no time to think anymore! Fine, I’m launching it!”

Rest hurled the barrier-encased fireball straight into the Worm’s gaping mouth.

Kagutsuchi, Flame God of Creation!

The spell already had its name, and now it was unleashed.

Inside the Elder Worm’s body, the barrier collapsed, releasing the contained inferno.

A colossal explosion erupted at the heart of the swamp, engulfing everything in a massive burst of flames.
