Chapter 205: The Effects of the Worm Have Emerged

The grilled skewers and soup made from Worm meat were consumed.

Both dishes were unexpectedly delicious, so much so that they felt almost otherworldly, defying their grotesque appearances.

“Thank you for the meal… It was delicious, both of you.”

Rest said, expressing his gratitude to Yuri and Urla, who had prepared the meal.

“I never imagined Worm meat could be transformed like that. It was so good it felt like I was blasted all the way to the far side of the moon.”

He had nearly experienced a second reincarnation. The taste was as strange as the cosmos, but upon reflection, it was undeniably tasty, and Rest decided to accept it as such.

“Well then… I’ll get back to maintaining the barrier’s magic—”

“Wait, Rest.”

Yuri interrupted just as Rest was about to rise from the table.

“Dessert is still left.”

“……”

He knew. He had been fully aware, which is why he was trying to slip away. But now, his escape route had been blocked.

(I get it. Fine. I’ll admit it. Yuri… you’re impressive.)

Rest internally praised the friend before him.

(Your dedication to culinary exploration, your natural ability to sniff out delicious flavors, it’s all real. I acknowledge that. But honestly… it terrifies me how close we are to encountering a disaster…)

No matter how innate Yuri’s sense of taste might be, there was no guarantee it would always prevail. Someone who relies solely on instinct without a foundation of knowledge is bound to fail spectacularly one day.

Rest, having lived two lives, was painfully aware of this truth.

(And besides, what’s with your body development, Yuri? You’re eating things like insect meat and monster flesh, yet your chest is full, your thighs look soft, and even your hips are so… so well-shaped… If you keep acting so recklessly, I might just—)

“Hm?”

Rest tilted his head.

He had just thought something outrageously inappropriate, hadn’t he? Was he usually this perverted?

“Here… jelly.”

Urla said quietly, offering a plate. Rest saw a quivering pink half-sphere atop a wooden plate.

“Jelly? How did you even make that?”

Rest blinked in surprise. Was it even possible to make jelly from scratch?

“I’m not entirely sure myself… but after heating, cooling, mixing, and kneading the Worm meat, something like that came out. It tasted good when I sampled it, so try it.”

Yuri said casually.

“A… happy accident, huh…”

Rest wanted to protest against being made to eat such an experiment. What sort of alchemy resulted in jelly being made from manipulating Worm meat?

“Eat it.”

Urla insisted, her eyes peeking through her long bangs and locking onto him with an unwavering gaze that left no room for refusal.

(This girl may still be a child now, but she’s going to grow into a beauty, isn’t she? And now that I look closely, even as a child, her development isn’t bad. Soon enough, she’ll be—)

“No, no… What the hell, me?”

Once again, inappropriate thoughts crept into his mind. Rest genuinely began to worry about what was happening to him today.

“…You won’t eat it?”

“No, I will.”

Rest replied, reluctantly taking the plate and spoon from her.

The appearance wasn’t bad. It had a lovely pink color, and if someone told him it was peach jelly, he might have believed them.

“……”

Rest looked around for help, but… Yuri, just like Urla, was watching him with an eager, expectant expression.

“Please, don’t hold back and enjoy.”

Yuri said cheerfully.

“The stars are so pretty.”

Ulra murmured.

Even Ulra’s attendant, Arlie, gave him a thumbs-up, showing no intention of stopping him. Meanwhile, Ostrey was still mentally “tripping to the far side of the moon” and showed no signs of returning.

No one was going to throw him a lifeline. Resigned, Rest picked up the spoon and plunged it into the jelly.

The half-transparent, jiggling pink dessert looked incredibly fresh and appetizing. It looked so good that it only made him feel more afraid.

“Well then… here goes nothing.”

Steeling himself, Rest brought a spoonful to his mouth. The jelly slid down his throat with a smooth, slippery texture.

“……!?”

It had no flavor. It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t good either. It was utterly tasteless and odorless.

Yet… what was this sensation? The moment he swallowed, an intense heat began rising from deep within his body.

(It’s like I swallowed a burning coal… What on earth did they make me eat?!)

“Oh, it looks like it’s working.”

Yuri said, her face lighting up.

“A huge success.”

Urla added, smiling.

“H-Hey, what is this stuff?!”

Rest demanded, alarmed.

“We made it from the Worm’s bodily fluids and reproductive organs.”

Yuri explained nonchalantly.

“You’ve been working nonstop, so I thought it’d be something to give you a boost!”

“……!?”

Now that she mentioned it, the heat caused by the jelly seemed to be having a very specific effect on his body.

“A boost?! This is not the kind of ‘boost’ I need!”

Rest shouted.

Come to think of it… he had been having unusually lewd thoughts ever since earlier. Could it be that the Worm’s flesh and blood had an effect similar to aphrodisiacs or stamina-enhancing food like soft-shelled turtle?

“With this, your fatigue will melt away, and you’ll sleep soundly tonight!”

Yuri declared proudly, puffing out her ample chest.

“How do you expect me to sleep like this?!”

Rest roared in exasperation, his voice echoing through the room.
