Just another Isekai Lover~

Chapter 204: I Ate a Worm

A vast white landscape stretched endlessly before him.

An infertile wasteland devoid of grass, trees, or water consumed Rest’s vision.

“Where… is this…?”

Rest tilted his head in confusion.

His memory of the moments leading up to this was blank. Where had he been? What had he been doing?

Why was he born? And why must he die?

Come to think of it… was he truly Rest? Or could he have been someone else?

“…”

Carefully surveying his surroundings in despair, he noticed the white terrain wasn’t completely flat. Hills, pits, and uneven ground dotted the area.

He had never been there before. He was certain of it.

Yet, Rest recognized the place.

“Could this be… the moon?”

Yes… the crater-filled landscape was strikingly similar to the photographs of the moon he had seen during his time in Japan.

The place where Apollo 11 had landed, where astronauts had once walked—Rest now stood in that very spot.

It was absurd… but when he looked up, he saw a blue planet hanging in the sky.

Earth.

The Earth was, indeed, blue.

“Huh…?”

But then, something strange happened in the lunar landscape.

From the craters, a massive white creature emerged.

It was the size of a bear, with a slick white body. Its face lacked eyes and a nose, and pink tentacles writhed where a face should have been.

“A monster…!”

“GYSHAAAAAA!”

The creature let out a bizarre cry and charged at Rest.

Its short arms brandished a spear aimed directly at him.

“Rest! Rest!”

“Huh…!”

Hearing his name called sharply, Rest’s eyes shot open.

What had he been doing just now? His mind swirled with confusion.

“What’s wrong? You’re just sitting there holding a skewer. Did it not suit your taste?”

The concerned face of Yuri came into view. Her voice triggered his memories to return.

(That’s right… I was eating the dinner Yuri and the others had made…)

In his right hand, he was still clutching the meat skewer.

The savory aroma of the meat lingered, and it was still warm, meaning not much time had passed since he lost consciousness.

It felt like he had been reincarnated in another world, but he decided to chalk it up to his imagination.

“…It’s nothing. Just… a daydream, I guess?”

“Hmm? Are you sure it wasn’t to your liking?”

“No… It’s not that bad…?”

Rest took another bite of the skewer.

The chewy, cartilage-like texture surprised him.

There was a distinct smell, but it had been effectively neutralized by the sauce.

The flavor was reminiscent of bonito seasoned with ginger soy sauce.

Surprisingly… it wasn’t bad at all.

(That first bite sent my brain spiraling into space, but… this is oddly addictive…)

It wasn’t just a lie to appease them—he genuinely found it delicious.

The taste was peculiar and hard to describe, but once he took a bite, he found himself wanting more.

(Delicious… but finding it tasty feels unsettling. What is this meat?)

“This… is worm meat, right?”

“Of course. It’s no ordinary worm—it’s dragon-class meat. Exquisite, isn’t it?”

“Dragon species… I see, Worms are part of the dragon family…”

Dragon meat is considered a delicacy of the highest grade.

Since Worms are a subspecies, it’s no surprise that their meat would be delicious as well.

“This soup isn’t bad either… it has a deep, rich flavor.”

“Ah, that’s because I used Worm bones to make the broth. Though… for some reason, it turned green…”

“I… I see…”

Rest decided not to dwell on the details as he cautiously sipped the soup.

As he did, Urla, who had been watching him intently, blushed faintly, her usually expressionless face tinged with red.

“… Happy.”

It seemed she was delighted that Rest found the food delicious.

Despite her doll-like demeanor, the small girl trembled with joy.

“The moon… so beautiful.”

She murmured.

Meanwhile, beside her, Ostrey was holding a meat skewer and zoning out, clearly in the midst of a mental trip.
