Just another Isekai Lover~

Chapter 164: The Daughter of Margrave Lavender’s family Appears

A girl stood before me.

She looked about middle school age. With purple hair in a bob cut, she was short and slender, with a delicate frame that might even make her appear elementary school-aged.

This is our first meeting… I can say that for sure.

Despite her plain features, there was something curiously striking about her, a presence that made her unforgettable after just one encounter.

“……”

“Did you say… Margrave Lavender?”

Rest froze at the unexpected name, but quickly snapped out of it, eyes wide, placing a hand to his chest.

“Ah, my apologies. I am Rest Clover. Though still young, I have been granted the title of Count.”

With graceful movements, he bowed.

This was the noble etiquette he’d practiced countless times, drilled into him so thoroughly it had become second nature.

“It is an honor to meet the young lady of the Lavender territory.”

“……”

“I hope we may maintain a cordial relationship moving forward.”

“……”

“……”

“……”

“…Um, Lady Lavender?”

He had finished his formal greeting, but the girl did not respond.

Normally, etiquette would demand that she return his greeting.

“Could it be you’re feeling unwell…?”

“…Beautiful.”

“Huh?”

“Beautiful… Ah, beautiful…”

The young lady of the Lavender territory gazed up at Rest, her eyes distant and dreamy.

Her expression seemed as though she were intoxicated, but Rest noticed that her eyes were shimmering with a rainbow-colored glow.

(Rainbow-colored irises… What is that color?)

It wasn’t just the effect of the firelight. The girl who introduced herself as Urla had eyes that seemed to change color every time Rest looked at them. Those mysterious eyes made him feel as if she could see deep into his soul.

(And did she just call me… beautiful?)

Rest wasn’t ugly, but he wasn’t exceptionally handsome either. His experiences had given him a rugged appearance, but beauty was not something he was known for.

“Hahh…”

“Whoa…!?”

Suddenly, Urla’s body collapsed backward. Rest, startled, moved to help, but a woman who appeared to be her attendant caught her just in time.

“Apologies. The young lady seems to have fainted from anemia.”

The attendant calmly explained as she supported Urla.

“Please excuse the rudeness. To the young ladies of the Rosemary family as well.”

“Oh, uh… yes.”

“That’s fine, but…”

Viola and Primula, who had yet to be introduced, exchanged confused looks. Interestingly, the woman hadn’t noticed Yuri, likely due to her being sheltered and not recognized as the daughter of Marquis Catreya.

“With that, we shall take our leave. We will return another day to formally greet you.”

The attendant spoke abruptly before carrying Ulra away.

“………”

“Huh…?”

As she was being carried away, Urla kept staring intently at Rest, as if trying to bore a hole through him with her gaze. It wasn’t a glare, but her stare left Rest feeling strangely uneasy.

“What… what was that about?”

Once they were out of sight, Rest voiced his honest thoughts. Even though she had approached him, he never learned what she wanted.

The only thing he figured out was that the daughter of the Lavender family was named Urla. And for some reason, she seemed to be quite interested in him.

“I didn’t sense any hostility or ill intent, but she was a hard one to read…”

“Yeah… I’ve never heard of a girl that age in the Lavender family.”

Primula said, tilting her head in confusion.

Viola added.

“Why would a sheltered girl like her be here? If she’s here, that means she’s part of the exploration group, right?”

“Normally, a debutante would make her debut at a party, right? Some people use their enrollment in the Royal Academy as an opportunity, but…”

“And exploring a dangerous frontier is hardly the place for a debutante. Though, I didn’t have a formal debut either.”

Yuri said casually as she put out the campfire and tidied up.

“Well, she did say she’d come back to greet us again, so we can ask her then. But more importantly… it’s time for our sleepover!”

Not particularly concerned with the details, Yuri smiled innocently, her excitement showing.

“We’ve had pajama parties at the Rosemary estate, but this is my first time sleeping in a tent with friends! And I get to be with Rest! Should we sleep next to each other?”

“Yuri, that’s crossing the line. Even among friends, that’s not okay.”

Viola cut in firmly.

“Rest-sama will sleep next to me and my sister. It’s too early for you, Yuri.”

Primula added, puffing her cheeks in response to Yuri’s playful suggestion.
