Chapter 389: Studying and Taking Exams

The next day, Fabienne was welcomed to the Heine Count’s household, and we confirmed the schedule for the day. In the morning, we would be studying with the help of a tutor, and in the afternoon, we would apply a magical potion to the knights’ armor. After that, we planned to make a water-repellent agent.

Rosalia would also be studying with us in the morning. It seemed she couldn’t concentrate unless we were together. She’s really a troublesome child. She’s not a total brother complex, right? As her older brother, I’m starting to worry about whether Rosalia will be able to get married properly.

Well, Father and Mother don’t seem too eager to let go of Rosalia either, but is that really okay? I think it’s about time she started attending more tea parties and looking for a future husband.

“Julius-sama, you seem a bit distracted.”

“Oniisan, what’s wrong? Oh, I know! You thought of a new magic tool, didn’t you?”

“That’s not it.”

Our teacher, watching our exchange, lowered their eyebrows in dismay. They must think we’re troublesome students. I’m sorry.

During this time, Nero and Lilie were also attending the lesson. They were diligently focusing on their paper and pencils. By the way, Mira was with Mother. She was probably being spoiled by her right about now.

Rosalia seemed to agree with Fabienne. But, Rosalia, relying on me for everything isn’t a good habit. Math is necessary when designing magic tools, so you can’t neglect it.

“We’re going to the knights’ training grounds in the afternoon, right?”

“That’s right. Fabienne, I’d like you to make some beginner-level healing potions during that time. Is that okay?”

“Of course. Are we running out of stock?”

“There’s still enough in the knights’ reserves, but the ones in the trading company seem to be running low.”

Last night at dinner, Alex-niisan asked me to make more. It wasn’t urgent, but it was better to prepare early. You never know what might happen. Plus, it would keep Fabienne from getting bored—killing two birds with one stone.

Fabienne nodded in agreement. In the afternoon, Rosalia would focus on making magic tools. She had resisted temptation and worked hard on her studies in the morning, after all. Today, she had to complete it.

After lunch, everyone went to their respective tasks. Naturally, I headed for the knights’ training grounds. I wanted to finish quickly and meet up with Fabienne.

When I arrived at the training grounds, five sets of armor were already prepared.

“Good work. Let’s get started right away.”

“Julius-sama, thank you for coming all this way.”

“Don’t worry about it. It’s something that needs to be done.”

Lionel bowed his head. Did he think he was being selfish for asking? I was the one who suggested it, so there was no need for him to worry.

The prepared armor was the best among the knights’ equipment, reserved for captain-class personnel. Since I rarely got the chance to touch such high-quality gear, I felt a bit nervous as I carefully applied the potion.

“Lionel, I should make this slightly different-colored armor the ‘Legendary Armor,’ right?”

“Yes, that’s correct… But are you really planning to make it the ‘Legendary Armor’?”

“I think that’s how it’s going to turn out.”

Lionel and the knights who were helping with the work fell silent. It seemed they thought I was joking. But I had a feeling this wasn’t something that could be dismissed as a joke.

While thinking that, I applied the “Holy Coating Agent” to the final piece of armor. Just like in the test application earlier, a slight sheen appeared.

“With this, it’s complete. Once it dries completely, the coating agent should firmly adhere to the armor.”

“Thank you very much. Would you like to rest at the barracks until it dries?”

“No, since I came all the way here, I’ll train with everyone until then. Could I get a cold cookie?”

And so, I spent the drying time practicing swordsmanship. Naturally, Nero joined in as well. Unlike me, Nero had been diligently training with the knights every morning. When I asked if he was properly resting his body, he assured me there was no problem.

Thinking about it, ever since Fabienne started coming around, I had been neglecting my training. I really should exercise from time to time. The same goes for Fabienne, I suppose. Maybe I’ll set aside some time for outdoor training tomorrow.

As I was thinking about that, the coating agent seemed to have fully settled onto the armor. When I touched it, it was no longer sticky. That should do it. My task was complete. Now, all that was left was to return to the alchemy room and make magic potions with Fabienne. At least, that’s what I thought—

“Julius-sama, if it’s alright with you, we’d like to conduct a durability test. What do you think?”

“Yeah, that makes sense. We should definitely do that.”

If you ask whether I’m curious or not, of course, I’m curious. I felt a little bad for Fabienne, but I decided to stay and watch the knights’ durability test for the armor.

After all, I’m the one who made it. I need to see how well my creation performs. Depending on the test results, it might not even be usable.
