Chapter 382: Artificial Sun

I explained the overview of the vacuum cleaner to Rosalia. Lilie, who was listening beside me, and Nero, who was nearby, were both surprised by the idea. Is a structure that sucks things in really that rare? Since the three of them voiced their surprise, it must have piqued their interest. Fabienne, still holding Mira, came over to us.

“Excuse me, Julius-sama, may I also hear about it?”

“Kyuu.”

“Of course.”

It seemed that not only Fabienne but also Mira felt left out. This time, I gave a more detailed explanation than before. Upon hearing this, Nero groaned.

“Julius-sama, if you’ve thought this much, wouldn’t it be possible to create the magical tool right away?”

“Hmm, that might be true, but the interesting part of magical tools is that they don’t always work easily. For this one, I’ll have Rosalia draw up the blueprints first. It’ll be good practice.”

“I understand. In the meantime, what will you do, Oniisan?”

Rosalia tilted her head and asked. Of course, there is something to do during that time. I wanted to figure out what to do about the “artificial sun” that I had been thinking about earlier.

“In the meantime, I’ll look into magical tools for lamps in more detail.”

Upon hearing that, Rosalia nodded once and began drawing the blueprints on the new paper that Lilie had brought. On the large paper from earlier, the necessary magical tools had already been written out. The rough design was probably good to go.

The magical tool to be used for the water area would be modeled after a shower. Just to be safe, I’ll make sure that it can wash hands with hot water. The rain coming down from the ceiling will use a sprinkler-type magical tool. As long as I choose one that can be easily attached to the ceiling, there won’t be any problems. The only thing left to do is the piping.

For the air conditioning, I’ll use the same system that was installed in the greenhouse before. The size of the new greenhouse is similar, so there’s no problem. However, the consumption of magic stones is an issue. I need to do something about that.

If I could utilize sunlight and make something like solar power… Before that, I should gather magic stones that can be used for charging. They should still be cheap now.

I began to disassemble the various types of lamp magical tools that Nero had brought. Since I would put them back into their original shape in the end, I was just borrowing them for the time being.

As I skillfully dismantled the magical tools, Fabienne happily watched my work.

“Sorry, Fabienne. It must be boring, right?”

“That’s not the case. It’s interesting just watching. And besides, Mira-chan is here too.”

“Kyuu.”

Mira, who was called, raised her hand. Fabienne lovingly patted Mira. I also wanted to be patted by Fabienne and wanted to pat her back. While being driven by such impure impulses, the disassembly work continued.

I compared the brightness and color of the light carefully, looking at the magic circle as well. Among them, I found a magic circle that produced a color close to sunlight. It seems there are several types of magic circles used in lamp magical tools. However, from my perspective, I wanted to say, “Isn’t it just that the magic circle is wrong?”

“Is it really possible for the color of the light to change with such a small difference? This is an unexpected discovery.”

“Did you find something interesting?”

“Yeah, well, kind of. If I draw this magic circle…”

I drew a simple magic circle with magical ink on the iron plate that had been prepared. When I placed a magic stone on it, light with the color of sunlight lit up above the magic circle. The intensity of the light was controlled, so it wasn’t too bright. It was a gentle light on the eyes.

“This is amazing. The light has such a warm color to it.”

“Yeah. I tried to replicate sunlight.”

“Indeed, this is sunlight.”

Fabienne seemed fascinated as she held her hand up to the light. The color of the light was the same, but the heat seemed minimal. With this, it didn’t seem like the room would get hot.

After continuing with various experiments, it was time for tea. Afterward, it was time for study as planned.

I took classes with Fabienne and Nero. Both of them were excellent, so the teacher seemed to be enjoying it. As soon as the lesson ended, I immediately escorted Fabienne back to her house. Tomorrow, I plan to try making various magical potions using Mira’s fur. Fabienne also said she was looking forward to it. I hope nothing outrageous comes out of it.

At dinner time, my father scolded me. I had expected it, but I decided to be thankful that I wasn’t called to the study. Apparently, my mother had known about it beforehand, which seemed to make a big difference. It seems she visited the study after lunch to have a talk.

“Julius’s reinforced glass will be adopted for the greenhouse windows. We will also use it for the windows of the carriages we use. If there are no issues, I plan to present a specially made carriage from our territory to His Majesty the King.”

“That’s a good idea. If the Heine Frontier Count’s Territory is known for its excellent horses and carriages, they will surely buy both together.”

“I hope that’s the case.”

When I said this, my father nodded vigorously. The Heine Frontier Count’s Territory had already become a major producer of horses. Not only are fast horses highly valued, but strong horses that can easily pull carriages are also appreciated. It’s an unexpected success.

The reason my father doesn’t scold me too harshly is probably due to this evaluation.

“Julius, after dinner, please take a look at the vacuum cleaner magical tool’s blueprint.”

“Already finished? As expected of Rosalia. I’ll take a look.”

“Hehe, it’s because you taught me so much, Oniisan.”

For a brief moment, the lively dinner table seemed to fall silent. Was it just my imagination? When I hesitantly looked up, my father was holding his head in his hands, and my mother and Alex-niisan had matching smiles on their faces, as if to say, “Just like parent, just like child.”

“Julius, are you planning to make something again?”

“No, in this case, it seems you’ve already made something. Now, could you tell your mother what you’re planning to make this time, Julius? Come on, Julius, Rosalia.”

Rosalia’s face stiffened. I probably had the same expression. As expected, we’re siblings.

So, Rosalia and I took turns talking about the magical tools for the greenhouse, which we had discussed earlier.
