Chapter 320: Substitute

Alex-niisan and sister-in-law Daniela seemed deep in thought. Has something troublesome come up? If I were an adult, it might not be such a big issue. But I still have about five years until then. I can’t wait that long.

“It might be better to prepare a stand-in.”

“Isn’t it okay to use Alex-niisan’s name?”

“The country will disclose it when Julius comes of age. That’s the condition.”

“I see. By having the country guarantee it, they emphasize the connection between the country and the individual.”

“Exactly.”

For the country, it’s a way to obtain an outstanding person and establish connections. There’s no loss in this. It’s problematic if my name becomes too well-known. There are people who think of bad things everywhere.

Since my connection with the country is already through sister-in-law Daniela, it’s not a big deal now.

“I understand. Alex-niisan, could you arrange a stand-in for me?”

“Alright, let’s do that.”

“I will take responsibility for preparing the documents to submit to the country. You can count on me.”

Sister-in-law Daniela took on the responsibility firmly. Alex-niisan is busy with setting up the trading company, after all. Sister-in-law Daniela is likely busy too, but Alex-niisan is at the forefront. Sister-in-law Daniela probably has a bit more leeway compared to him.

In the end, I’ve increased their workload. I want to do something to show my gratitude.

“Now, we need to decide on a name for the stand-in. What should we choose? How about Mr. Y?”

“Huh?”

“Really! Is that alright?”

Both of them were laughing. It seems they found my surprise amusing. But seriously, isn’t that a bit too casual? Rosalia, Nero, and Lelie look like their eyes are about to pop out. Mira… seems not to understand well. She’s looking up and tilting her head.

“Alright, from today, Mr. Y will be Julius’s stand-in. From now on, anything that happens will be attributed to Mr. Y. Of course, this information should not be shared outside.”

Alex-niisan demonstrated the skill of applying pressure while laughing. Unlike Lionel’s version, this one was refined. I’d like to master it someday. It might be useful when I enter the academy.

Sister-in-law Daniela immediately began preparing the documents. She said, “I’ll take care of it,” with a smile and went back to her room. By dinner time, she had almost completed the documents. That’s quick.

Alex-niisan looked disappointed. He probably wanted to sell it. However, it seems there’s no budget for hiring a potion maker at the moment. Even gathering craftsmen seems to be a challenge.

“We’ve finally gathered the personnel. I think we can officially launch the trading company next week.”

“I see. Alex-niisan, you’ve done well.”

My father looks pleased. The next Border Count is starting his own business independently. It’s no wonder he’s happy.

Even at this stage, we’re making a decent profit from horse racing and new products in the territory. Alex-niisan’s new trading company will further invigorate the capital and enrich the territory.

Normally, this would create many enemies, but we have sister-in-law Daniela, who is from the royal family. No noble would dare to pick a fight with the royalty. Sister-in-law Daniela is like a guardian deity of the Heine Border Count’s territory. We must cherish her.

Alex-niisan turned to us.

“I want Julius and Rosalia to teach the hired craftsmen how to make the products.”

“Leave it to me.”

“Understood!”

Rosalia eagerly thrust her fists forward with a smile. She’s happy to have a place where she belongs. Meanwhile, Cain-niisan and sister-in-law Mika looked displeased. Alex-niisan gave a wry smile when he saw this.

“I’d like Cain and Mika to handle the security of the trading company. Set up the patrol schedule and security system. After all, our trading company has many secrets. Also, consult with Lionel about this.”

“Got it.”

“Understood.”

The two responded simultaneously with bright eyes. My parents are smiling. With this, the entire Heine Border Count family will be mobilized. It looks like we’ll be busy for a while.
