Chapter 242: I Have No Choice

　My wishes were in vain, and no snow fell after that. No, it’s Fine, it’s really good, but it’s hard for me to tell my father exactly what happened.

　As we continued towards the capital, there was a little bit of fallen snow on the road. This must be the effect of the “out-of-season snow” that the snow spirit was talking about. However, the snow was not so heavy that the horse-drawn carriage could not run.

　Seeing my expression, sister-in-law Daniela looked into my face. The more I look at her, the more it strikes me. If I were a little older, I might have come forward as a candidate for her fiancée.

“You don’t need to worry about that. I’ll be there with Alex to report the incident and I will make sure that Julius-chan will not be punished.”

　She replied with a confident smile. Did she think I was a bit of an unreliable brother-in-law?　Perhaps it was a mistake to talk about my insecurities.

　The carriage moves along with a slightly dejected me on board. If all goes well, the next town will soon be here.

“ Alex-sama, we’re in trouble!　The wagons ahead of us are being attacked by Snow Wolves!　Twenty of them!”

“What?!　Have the Snow Wolves appeared already?　And there are so many of them.”

“I think the recent extreme weather conditions may have affected the monsters as well.”

　The knight who came to report said so. The surrounding area becomes noisy. The sound of metal scraping could be heard from near the carriage we were riding in.

　Since the carriage of the Heine family is guarded by knights, there is no problem even if about 20 snow wolves attack us. They would only lightly kicked them away. But what about the wagons leading the way?

“Brother, shouldn’t we go help them?　That wagon is probably headed for the capital.”

“I know, I know, but ……”

“Oh, my God!　Cain-sama and Mika-sama!”

“I knew it!　I was just thinking about how to stop those two!”

　“Ah, shit,” said brother Alex as he jumped off the carriage. It would take time if he tried to catch up to the front while riding in the carriage. It would be faster to run for a short distance. Still, brother Alex went on his own because he thought that the knight’s words would not stop them.

“Julius protect Daniela-sama well! Some of you should follow me!”

　With these words, he ran forward with several guards who were guarding the carriage. Inside the carriage, I was alone with sister-in-law Daniela. I don’t know if she was feeling anxious or not, but she gently hugged me. The pressure off her chest was incredible.

“It’s okay, Sister-in-law Daniela. Brother Cain and Sister-in-law Meeka are both strong. They won’t fall behind the Snow Wolves.”

“I know, I know. …… aren’t you scared, Julius-chan?”

“ Scared… you’re not scared, are you?”

　I see. For a princess who grew up sheltered,  this might be her first encounter with a monster. If that’s the case, it’s no wonder she’s afraid of them. Hmm?　Another Snow Wolf is coming from the left. There are 13 of them. I think the surrounding knights will be enough to protect us, but they might instill fear in  sister-in-sister-in-law Daniela. I opened the window of the carriage.

“On the left, thirteen Snow Wolves. They’re coming this way.”

“Huh?　Huh? Yes. I understand. Oi, strengthen your defense!”

　Sister-in-law Daniela’s strength as she hugged me became stronger. The slime on her chest made it soft. It’s outrageous. However, I think it would be better for me to head over there as well. For some reason, the knights are standing still. It appears that the commander is absent. Yare yare(good grief) .

“Sister-in-law Daniela, please stay here. I will go too.”

“No, it’s too dangerous!”

“ I’ll be fine. I’m still considered a swordsman and a great mage.”

　I winked at her, to reassure my sister-in-law. Sister-in-law Daniela’s eyes widened. What is it?

　This is bad! I couldn’t believe it was even a rumor among the royal family. This is bad, Julius! However, I couldn’t deny it now, so I slipped out when -sister-in-law Daniela’s arms relaxed.

　What should I do. What should I really do about this?

“Nero, don’t let sister-in-law Daniela step out of the carriage.”

“I understand. Good luck!”

　Ah, your not going to stop me? I thought he was going to say something like he’ll go, but I guess he is still practicing swordsmanship and magic, right On the other hand, I was relieved because it seemed like he was clearly assessing his own abilities. And those sparkling eyes look just like  sister-in-law Daniela’s.

　…… Don’t tell me you’re not coming forward because you want to see me in action?　I believe in you, Nero.

“You guys protect the carriage. Don’t let any monsters get close!”

“Oh, leave it to us!”

　That’s not right… I can’t believe you look so relieved when I tell you what to do. I’ll have to report this to my brother later and have him retrain them.

“Julius-sama, it’s dangerous!”

　Some knights ran up to me. Could these knights be useful?

“I know the risks. Here they come!”

　Running through the trees, Snow Wolves pounced on us. Well, let me try out the katana that brother Cain bought me in the Royal Capital. I’m sure my “sword training” skill wasn’t that low, so even I should be able to use the katana a little.
