Chapter 122: Secret Room

We arrived at the entrance to the royal castle. No matter how many times I see it, the gate is always overwhelming. While I was looking up at the gate, my father seemed to have completed the entry formalities, and we were able to pass through the gate without much delay.

Looking closely, there were several carriages stuck around the gate, as if the formalities were taking a long time. That too, I wondered. Just the other day, His Majesty the King was almost poisoned. Since it is a top-secret matter, there are probably only a few people who know about it. However, security must have been tightened. The checking system must be getting stricter.

The carriage continued on to the back of the castle and stopped at a stop that only high-ranking nobles are allowed to use. The view through the curtains of the carriage did not show any other carriages. As we got out of the carriage, a man came out of nowhere to greet us.

“Margrave Heine, please come this way.”

My father silently nodded. I followed silently behind him. The reception room I was shown was a place I had never been before. The room was not very ornate and seemed to focus on functionality. The room had no windows, and I could see several magical tools installed. Could it be that it’s a magic tool for soundproofing?  The same ones were installed at all four corners of the room.

There is one round table in the room. It is a table that can seat about ten people. There were four chairs prepared for us. Us, father and son, and His Majesty the King. Who was going to be the other one?

“ This is your first time in this room, isn’t it Julius? This room is used for discussions that you don’t want leaked outside. It is equipped with soundproofing Magic tools.”

“I knew it. So that’s the soundproofing magic tool.”

“You noticed? I am impressed.”

Father’s mouth relaxes. I’m not sure if I’m being tested. Seeing that we did not pass anyone by the time we arrived at this room, we must have moved in such a way that we didn’t. The castle is like a maze.

After a while, His Majesty the King and the Prime Minister arrived. I see , so the remaining seat was the Prime Minister’s seat. If I remember correctly, it was said that he was a childhood friend of the king’s and a close friend of his.

When they were seated, His Majesty the King opened his mouth.

“I’m sorry to keep you waiting. It took a long time to move around so as not to arouse suspicion as much as possible.”

“No, not at all.”

“Right. I believe you know, but nothing we talked about in this room will be leaked to the outside. So you can talk with peace of mind.”

He spoke with a mixture of brightness and gravity. He seemed to have a lot of questions he wanted to ask. I waited quietly for His Majesty the King to speak.

“First of all, I must thank you. Thanks to the elixir Julius had prepared, I was able to survive. I will reward you later.”

“I did what I had to do. There is no need to thank me.”

I returned the words in the standard way. Hearing this, father and the Prime Minister nodded in agreement. Apparently, I got a passing grade. For some reason, my stomach began to ache.

“I don’t think so. You will receive it later, won’t he, Prime Minister?

“Yes, sir. It is a well-deserved reward. By the way, how did you bring in the panacea?”

Oops, it seems that Chloe told him that I made the panacea, but she kept silent about my “subspace” skill. I would have been in trouble if he had asked me to explain what kind of skill it was.

“I put it inside the stuffed animal I gave to Chloe-sama.”

“I see, inside the stuffed animal……”

Deepening the wrinkles on his nose, he is deep in thought. Maybe from now on, they will be able to search the inside of stuffed animals. I’m glad I didn’t bug the stuffed animal. If I had done so, I would have ended up in the dungeon.

“I had no idea that Margaret had taught you how to make a panacea. She didn’t have it with her, but it must be a very valuable magic potion, right?”

“Yes, it is. I was lucky enough to find the materials I needed in the box that held the precious ingredients, but I was only able to make one.”

I would have been relieved if there had been enough to make several bottles. But it was such a rare material. I might have been lucky to even have enough for one. And thanks to that, I was able to save His Majesty the King’s life.

His Majesty, who was thinking with his hand on his chin, looked at my father.

“Maximilian, did Julius already inherit the book of magic potions that Margaret was supposed to have had?”

“…… Yes, that is correct. It was handed to me directly from my mother. She asked me to give this to Julius.”

Father answered reluctantly. This room is highly confidential. And he could not lie to His Majesty the King’s question. Still, he wanted to keep the matter a secret.

“I see. Don’t worry. This will remain a secret between us. Is that okay with you, prime minister?”

“Yes, sir. Of course.”

Both my father and I bowed our heads together. Will this be a big deal for a while? If I have the book, there will be people who will come after it. After all, with this book, I would have the approval of the old lady, who is a high-ranking potion master.

For those who are currently vying for power in the Potions Guild, it would be a coveted item.

“There is something I would like to give to His Majesty the King.”

“What is it?”

I handed a piece of paper to the servant. The servant checked it and handed it to His Majesty the King. His Majesty’s eyes widened when he saw what was inside.

“Is this how to make …… the panacea? Are you sure I could have such a valuable thing?”

“It is fine. The materials are all precious, and I don’t know when the next panacea will be ready with my power. If that is the case, I thought it would be better to have the royal family’s magic potion-maker make it.”

“Hmmm.”

Saying this, His Majesty the King pondered. The Prime Minister sitting next to him also had not expected to be handed the recipe for making the panacea, and his mouth was left open.
