Chapter 107: Let’s Make Magic Potion Companions
After successfully completing the facial toner, we decided to take a break. Of course, we didn’t stay in the plain laboratory but went to a nearby salon.
It wasn’t the grand salon of the Heine Margrave House used for tea parties, but rather a calm and sophisticated salon for adults. Personally, I liked this place a lot because I could quietly read books here.
“So, how was it? It wasn’t that difficult, was it?”
“Well, I think it wasn’t as difficult as I thought. But that’s probably because Julius-sama was right next to me, teaching me patiently. If I were alone, I don’t think I could have made it so easily.”
I see, she’s looking at her surroundings quite calmly. When Rosalia first made magical tools, she was too excited and couldn’t see anything else. But thanks to that, she developed even more interest in magical tools. I wonder if Fabienne didn’t have such a surge of emotions?
“How did the facial toner and hand cream turn out?”
“…It was tough.”
“Tough?”
Yes, what on earth happened at the Ambeel Barony? Fabienne, who lowered her gaze, let out a sigh.
“The reputation was too good, and they were gone in no time.”
“Oh… If that’s the case, I should have given you more.”
I only gave her one of each because I thought she would use them herself, but it seems she shared them with others. As a result, they ran out quickly.
It seems that Fabienne chose the path of making everyone happy rather than monopolizing them. It caused quite a stir in the Ambeel Barony, though.
“My mother was also very pleased. She said that she had been feeling that her skin was losing its elasticity recently… but it seems to have come back, and she was delighted.”
Even Baroness Ambeel had been struggling to maintain her beauty. My own mother must be making constant efforts as well. Maybe I should give some as a gift to my mother too? No, it might cause a big fuss and make her busy.
“In that case, let’s make a few more. It seems better to make extra hand cream. Whenever they run out, feel free to come and make more. You’re always welcome.”
“Are you sure? I don’t want to bother you.”
“Not at all. You’re more than welcome.”
My self-proclaimed charming smile caused Fabienne’s face to turn red. It seems that it wasn’t just a self-proclaimed smile, but a genuine charming smile. This is amazing in another world.
Now I have finally gained a magical potion companion who will come regularly. I achieved my long-cherished wish!
After the break, we started making the hand cream. This time, we made several of them, so I prepared more ingredients. While teaching her the process, I made additional metal containers for the hand cream next to her.
The lids of the containers were decorated with an embossed flower pattern. Since I was going to give all of them to Fabienne, I made sure each container had a different design.
“Julius-sama, you’re very skilled…”
Fabienne said that as she looked at the containers I made. She seemed surprised because I made them easily next to her. Well, rather than being surprised, she might be exasperated.
“Well, it’s a skill I acquired when making magical tools. It’s nothing special.”
I laughed it off with an “Ahaha.” Fabienne didn’t seem to know how to respond and furrowed her eyebrows.
After filling the containers with the finished hand cream, I completed five of them.
Next, we started making the facial toner again. If we make a few more, we should be fine for a while. Fabienne had already become accustomed to making facial toner, as she seemed to have gotten used to the process after making the hand cream.
As for me, I continued making the glass bottles to hold the facial toner next to her. Of course, they were small bottles adorned with flower patterns. I had an insistence on each bottle having a unique design. However, Fabienne occasionally glanced at me, and her focus seemed to be distracted. I stopped making them midway.
It wouldn’t be good if her focus was distracted and an accident occurred. Fabienne’s safety was my top priority. Instead, I decided to help her make the facial toner.
“Do we make magic potions the same way?”
“Basically, yes. Like I mentioned earlier, this can also be considered a magic potion since it falls under that category. I think it’s safe to say that Fabienne is already making magic potions.”
“I’m making magic potions… It feels strange. I thought I couldn’t do anything.”
Fabienne lowered her eyes. Couldn’t do anything? Come to think of it, it’s true that the noble women in this world don’t learn any special skills since their future is to get married and take care of their families. Some find value in that and live lively lives like my grandmother, while others, like Fabienne, have doubts and question their existence.
“You can do more than you think. Fabienne, in the future, you might become a high-ranking magical tool artisan like my grandmother, right?”
“Yes… I suppose so.”
I intentionally mentioned my grandmother as an example. It’s true that there are few noble ladies who possess skills other than taking care of their families. However, it’s not zero. Personally, I feel stronger about the idea of “since we’re alive, we should do what we want” than the norm in this world.
“That’s right. Fabienne, I’m sure you’ll find what you should do.”
Saying that confidently, I smiled. In her eyes as she finally looked up at me, there was warmth and brightness, like the sunlight in early spring after the snow has melted. She must have been struggling with it for a long time—her own existence.
“Yes, that’s right. Fabienne, you’ll surely find what you should do.”
I said it with conviction and smiled.
