Part I. The Otherworld Village Chief

Chapter 1: The Beginning

On that day, the whole of Japan was enveloped in a dazzling light.

The phenomenon, which occurred suddenly and without warning, 

It was a case of disappearance with an unknown cause, later called "mass mysterious disappearance.”

It is early summer and today is Saturday. It was the first two-day weekend in a long time, and I was excited, whether I wanted to be or not. I had been sitting in front of the computer since this morning, and had started up the game I wanted to play.

“Now, let's expand our territory slowly again today!”

I love survival games and historical simulations. I'm a single guy, and I'm turning 40 this year. I am not proud of it, but I have a modest income and own a house with a small garden.

My hobbies are playing video games and reading otherworldly novels when I get home or on weekends. When I was young, I thought I would have a happy life with a family someday.

“No, this life is not bad at all. In fact, it's even good.”

Married people complaining at work. They only talk about negative things, and this gives extra impetus to their thoughts.

Single at home, I can decide everything by myself, move at my own convenience, and do as I please. It's not that I don't like to interact with others. It is simply that I like this easygoing life.

“Well, let's get started!”

I'm playing a historical simulation game, which has recently become a favorite of mine. I'm slowly expanding my territory and gradually building up my country's power. My standard is to take my time and not be in a hurry.

“I think it's important to build up the initial infrastructure.”

After immersing myself in the simulation for a while, I realized that it was already around noon. Well, this is the usual. The happy time goes by so fast. It is the exact opposite of when I am at work.

"Oh, ......, I'm hungry."

It was when I suddenly thought of something to cook and started rummaging in the refrigerator.

The moment I opened the refrigerator door, I was enveloped by a light so intense that the entire room seemed to go completely white.

I thought, "What?　What is this?”

Confused by the sudden event, I froze in place, unable to move a single step. The light quickly subsided, and the scene that unfolded in front of my eyes was the same as before: ----

It was the same as before, only the contents of the refrigerator were visible.
