Just another Isekai Lover~
Chapter 79: A Long-Awaited Consultation
About two weeks have passed since we went to sell the vegetables grown by Lua and the others.
During this time, everything has been going smoothly.
There haven’t been any major incidents or events, but this kind of peaceful, slow life is quite pleasant.
The regular fields are also producing Japanese crops steadily, so I think we’ll be able to harvest more soon…
My NP has been accumulating steadily, and I’ve almost recovered the amount I spent on building my house.
Even though I recently splurged on a solar generator, it might be time to use some NP for another purchase.
Currently, my financial situation looks like this:
- NP: 31,469
- This world’s currency: 2 platinum coins
As for the local currency, I still have what I saved up during the winter. However, my NP has been growing significantly.
Watching it accumulate without spending it is satisfying in its own way, but NP is meant to be used.
Using NP also improves the efficiency of acquiring more NP, so there’s no point in hoarding it unnecessarily.
With that in mind, I’ve decided to invest in either a skill upgrade or a new summoned monster.
“Sheila, thank you for taking the time to meet with me today.”
“No problem at all. …It feels like it’s been a while since we last talked like this.”
“It does. Was it the time when I decided to purchase Crow?”
“Yes, I believe so. So… are you looking for information on monsters again?”
“No, this time I wanted to consult with you about how to spend the currency I’ve saved up from skills.”
“Oh? Well, I think you should decide that yourself, but I take it you’re having trouble making a choice?”
Sheila, as expected, has a keen sense of understanding, making conversations with her effortless.
I nodded in response and explained my current options to her.
“I see. So you’re torn between upgrading skills, purchasing a summoned monster, or buying convenience and entertainment items.”
“That’s right. What do you think?”
“If I had to choose, I’d personally lean toward convenience and entertainment items. Just looking at things from another world is fun, after all. …However, thinking about the future, I’d say either upgrading skills or purchasing a summoned monster would be the better choice. And between those two, I’d recommend getting a summoned monster. It makes things more lively and enjoyable.”
“If that’s what you think, then I’ll go ahead and purchase a summoned monster this time.”
“Are you sure? I think it would be better if you made the decision yourself.”
“It doesn’t have to be my own decision. I also wanted to take this opportunity to talk with you.”
“Hehe, that makes me happy. I’ve been looking forward to this discussion as well.”
And so, it was decided—I would purchase a summoned beast.
Actually, I had already decided on which one to get. It was one of the options Sheila had previously suggested: a Cat Mage.
The only downside was that it cost 30,000 NP, but I should be able to save up more, so it shouldn’t be a problem.
“…Alright, I’ve purchased it. It might already be outside.”
“That was fast. If it’s outside, let’s go take a look. By the way, what kind of monster did you buy?”
“That’s a surprise. Let’s go see for ourselves.”
Sheila and I stepped outside to check on the newly acquired Cat Mage.
Since it has “cat” in its name, I wanted to imagine something cute, but in this world, most monsters tend to look terrifying.
I’d been deceived by Diya so many times before, so I braced myself for the possibility that this “cat” might also have some monstrous appearance.
However…
Standing in front of the fields was a small, wizard-like, humanoid cat.
“Oh! You bought a Cat Mage!”
“So this is what a Cat Mage looks like?”
“Yes. Its appearance is adorable, but as I mentioned before, it can wield all four elemental magic types, making it quite a formidable and dangerous monster.”
It wasn’t a beastman-like figure, but a true bipedal cat.
Wearing a black robe and holding a staff, its face resembled an Exotic Shorthair, giving it an adorably ugly yet incredibly endearing look.
“Despite being this cute, it’s still considered a dangerous monster? Well then—Cat Mage, I look forward to working with you from today!”
As I bowed my head in greeting, the Cat Mage extended a paw—not for a handshake, but in a different manner.
I hesitated for a moment before offering my hand, and it responded with a high-five.
…Adorable.
It was expressionless, yet performing such a cute gesture. That contrast made it even cuter.
“As an enemy, it’s terrifying, but as an ally, it’s adorable. Sato, have you decided on a name yet?”
“Yes. From today, this little one will be called Moji.”
“Moji? That’s a great name.”
This time, instead of picking a name with some deeper meaning, I took inspiration from a famous magician.
The sound of it fits well, and given Moji’s cute appearance, I think it suits them perfectly.
Now, I just have to see how useful Moji will be. But even if they don’t contribute much, I don’t mind—I just want to enjoy a peaceful life with them.
