Chapter 71: Adult

After having lunch with Donnie, I followed the map and visited the stores recommended to me.

Since Velvet was the one who provided the information, I was surprised to get an immediate response from the first shop—they were willing to buy. They wanted to see the actual items before making a final decision, but that was already a great start.

When I mentioned that I also had some unusual crops, they expressed interest in purchasing them depending on their taste. With that, I had already found a potential buyer.

Now, even if I failed to secure a carpenter, I at least had something positive to report.

I felt a bit relieved but quickly refocused my mind as I prepared for negotiations with Rozzo’s older brother.

First, I secured a room at an inn and checked the price of a portable DVD player with a screen.

As expected, since DVD players were no longer mainstream, even with a built-in screen, they were quite affordable.

That said, they still cost about 8,000 yen—roughly 2,400 NP.

While 2,400 NP for a house seemed like a great deal, the problem was that the device only lasted six hours on battery.

I wanted to buy a generator, but a solar generator that could work in this world cost 15,000 NP, which made me hesitate.

After much deliberation, I decided to buy the solar generator, but I wouldn’t give it away as a gift. Instead, I’d keep it and let Rozzo’s older brother come by to charge his DVD player whenever he needed to.

Just like with Velvet, if he liked it, he’d have to come to me to charge it.

And if he came to charge it, he might as well help out with construction while he was at it.

It was a simple plan, but even if I couldn’t win over Rozzo’s brother, the solar generator would still be useful. I had nothing to lose, so I decided to go ahead with the purchase.

I ordered a portable DVD player, a solar generator, and three older but cheaper adult films.

The total came to 20,000 NP, but most of that was the solar generator, so it was within reason… probably.

I didn’t want to get my hopes up just because I spent NP, but if this led to getting a house built, it would be a huge win.

With that in mind, I headed back to Rozzo’s shop.

“Oh! Sato! Perfect timing! I just finished closing up, so we’re good to go!”

“That’s great. By the way, where are we headed?”

“It’s just down this street! About a five-minute walk. I didn’t set up an appointment or anything, but he should still be at the shop.”

“I see. Lead the way, then.”

“Leave it to me!”

Rozzo thumped his chest confidently, and I nodded before following him to his older brother’s shop.

Just as he said, it was only a five-minute walk away—a rather large building.

“That’s an impressive shop…”

“He’s got skills, so he’s making good money. I don’t think I’m any worse than him when it comes to craftsmanship, but I’ve got no interest in money and suck at business!”

Considering he was willing to give me a sword just because he knew Sheila, he really was a generous guy.

Since he introduced me to his brother out of goodwill, I needed to thank him properly.

If Rozzo’s brother liked my gift, maybe I could get Rozzo a DVD player as well.

Even though blacksmithing and carpentry seem different, at their core, they both love creating things. Their hobbies might be more similar than they appear.

As I considered that, I followed Rozzo into the impressive shop.

It was already closed for the day, and inside, a lone dwarf stood at the back.

“Yo, Sid! Long time no see!”

“Rozzo? What the hell are you doing here this late? What do you want?”

I had a feeling from the moment I saw him, but judging by how they spoke, this was definitely Rozzo’s older brother.

He was just as muscular, but his stylish, wealthy-looking attire was a stark contrast to Rozzo’s rugged appearance.

Not my type of person, but if he’s Rozzo’s brother, he’s probably a good guy… hopefully.

“Don’t get all grumpy! I brought someone I wanted to introduce! He wants you to build him a house!”

“Huh…? Never seen him before. You got the money for it? I’m fast, and my work’s top-notch, but my services aren’t cheap.”

“Well, I don’t have much money… but I brought something good. I was hoping you’d consider trading for it.”

“Something good? Unless it’s valuable, I’m not interested. But since Rozzo brought you, I guess it’s not junk. Show me.”

I thought there’d be more small talk before handing it over, but he asked for it right away.

Since Rozzo introduced me, it felt like the expectations were higher, and if he didn’t like it, that would be a problem.

Still, I had no choice but to go through with it.

“This is it.”

I handed over the portable DVD player.

Sid, who had been acting tough until now, suddenly looked flustered as he stared at it, not sure how to handle it.

“W-What the hell is this? Some kind of tool? I can’t make heads or tails of it.”

“It’s a device for watching recorded videos. You don’t have anything like that in this world?”

“Videos? There’s magitech photography, but that only does pictures.”

“Sato! This thing can play videos?! I’m interested too!”

It wasn’t just Sid—Rozzo also leaned in excitedly.

Judging by their reactions, this was definitely a hit.

However, I had only focused on Sid’s love for women and bought nothing but adult videos.

I should have gotten a regular movie too so we could test it out right away.

…No, I should buy one now.
