Chapter 251: A Journey Through the Sky

The next day,

Sheila-san and I woke up earlier than usual and finished the farm work in about two hours, just like yesterday.

All that was left was watering, so we left that to Helena and Moji, who would wake up soon, and began preparing for the trip to Mount Edelgius.

I thought it would be difficult to go the day after, but according to Drake-san, “We can leave immediately,” so we decided to depart today.

Sheila-san and I packed our light luggage and headed to the dragonkin village in Nyx’s carriage.

When we arrived, Drake-san and a large dragonkin were already waiting. I assumed that this tall one was Marjis-san.

“Oh! Sato-san, Sheila-san, you’re here!”

“Sorry for making you wait. You’re Marjis-san, right? Thank you for today.”

“Mm. Sato-san has helped us a lot, so don’t worry about a thing.”

He gave off an aura of pure kindness.

I had wondered what kind of person he would be, and I was glad he seemed so gentle.

“Well then, no time to chat! Let’s get moving! I’ve prepared some ropes—hold on tight so you don’t fall!”

After the warning, Drake-san and Marjis-san focused their energy.

A red mist gradually appeared, enveloping their bodies… and then, they transformed into dragons.

“Wow! Amazing! They really turned into dragons!”

“This is my first time seeing a transformation too—it’s so mystical.”

As Sheila-san and I excitedly shared our impressions, Drake-san snorted, as if telling us to get on quickly.

Apparently, they couldn’t speak in dragon form.

Hurriedly, I climbed onto Drake-san’s back, and Sheila-san onto Marjis-san’s.

They had prepared saddles, so the ride was extremely comfortable.

Unlike Yato-san’s massive dragon, these dragons were closer in form to wyverns, making them easier to ride.

As I marveled at how comfortable it was, Drake-san began flapping his wings.

Soon, we lifted off. The sensation was like slowly ascending on a roller coaster.

Half fear, half excitement, I braced myself—and then we took off into the air.

“Whoa! Amazing, we’re flying!”

I had expected it to be scarier, but since we weren’t gliding, there was no floating sensation like on a roller coaster.

Instead, the thrill of flying felt exhilarating, and my excitement soared.

We must have been moving at quite a speed, yet Drake-san’s reassuring presence made me feel completely safe.

Without a trace of fear, I fully enjoyed the sky journey.

About eight hours after leaving the village, with a two-hour break midway, we arrived at Mount Edelgius.

Six hours in the air might sound exhausting, but the novelty of flying made it enjoyable the entire way.

I was probably a little hyped up, but it was truly an unforgettable experience.

“Phew, we’ve arrived! Sato-san, your butt’s not sore, right?”

“The saddle was great, so I’m fine! Thank you so much! This was an incredible experience!”

“Ha ha ha! Rare to see you this excited! Just seeing you happy makes it all worth it!”

Our goal was to reach Mount Edelgius, but we had already had an amazing adventure.

Though part of me felt a little guilty that the thrill of reaching Yato-san’s hometown was somewhat overshadowed, the flight itself had been too incredible to care.

“Sato-san, that was amazing. My first time traveling through the air—it felt so wonderful.”

“Right! I feel so satisfied too!”

Sheila-san and I exchanged impressions as we followed Drake-san toward Mount Edelgius.

From the name, I imagined a massive mountain, but it was smaller than expected.

It had a mountain castle-like layout, with dragonkin living at the base and several large fields.

I guessed these fields had been created after our interactions and lessons with them.

Although it was still early spring and no crops were planted, the fields seemed successful, and it was gratifying to see that the dragonkin had taken to farming.

There were still areas needing improvement, but it was rewarding to witness this progress.

“The fields are properly established, aren’t they?”

“Yeah! Thanks to Sato-san, farming is possible here at Mount Edelgius! Compared to our fields, the quality, size, and quantity are still lacking!”

“With time, it will improve. I’ll give some advice today as well.”

“That’s awesome! I’m sure they’ll be thrilled!”

We were happy to see that the fields were bearing fruit, and for now, we headed toward the village area.

We walked through Mount Edelgius, enjoying mystical scenery: rocks carved with dragons, pillars adorned with beautiful gems, and more.
