Just another Isekai Lover~

Chapter 101: The Town of Lanzore

Even though I’d been worried whether Ash could actually pull the carriage, he proved there was nothing to worry about — effortlessly hauling it along like it was second nature.

Just like the information we’d heard beforehand, he was incredibly strong, and even with a large cargo bed attached, Ash moved without any trouble at all.

And what’s even more remarkable is his speed.

As you’d expect from a species called “Runner,” he’s really fast.

Even while pulling the carriage, Ash can reach speeds of about 40 kilometers per hour, and if the cargo bed is detached, he can hit around 60.

That said, stamina is the real challenge — he can only maintain top speed for about 10 minutes.

Normally, we’d probably travel at half that pace: around 20 km/h with the cargo bed attached, and 30 km/h without it.

But even that’s plenty fast, and just the fact that he can move such a heavy carriage by himself is an absolute lifesaver.

From now on, Ash is going to be working hard as our carriage-puller.

And without wasting any time, I ended up heading out to town with Sheila.

It was originally meant to be a short trip to test the carriage — a simple day trip as long as Ash didn’t get too tired — but I couldn’t help feeling excited.

“Sheila, are you ready?”

“Yes, I can leave anytime.”

“Alright, let’s go. Should we head for the royal capital this time too?”

“No, since it’s a perfect opportunity, let’s visit a different town. There’s one on the opposite side from the capital. It’s not as big, but it has a magic academy — I think you’ll find it interesting.”

A magic academy! The very sound of it stirs up my inner child.

Just like how I’m always captivated whenever I watch Moji’s magic, my curiosity for magic still hasn’t faded.

I guess loving Harry Potter back in the day has something to do with it too — there’s just something undeniably romantic about magic.

Even in games, I’ve always favored mages over warrior types. Magic has always felt like something special to me.

“I’m really looking forward to the magic academy! Can I leave the guiding to you, Sheila?”

“Of course. Leave it to me.”

So, for today, Rozzo and the others kindly agreed to help out with the fields while Sheila and I headed off to the town with the magic academy.

It was supposed to be just a carriage test run, but my excitement was soaring.

This time, we detached the cargo bed and climbed into the cabin, ready to depart.

Ash could understand our words, so there was no need for a driver — just telling him which direction to go from our seats was enough.

It’s practically like self-driving, and honestly, the ride’s been as smooth as a car so far.

“Sato, this is way less bumpy than I expected. The seats are so soft too, I don’t feel tired at all.”

“Seems like Sid got some really nice materials for the seats. The wheels were Rozzo’s passion project — he designed them to absorb impacts.”

“They might be loud and rough around the edges, but their craftsmanship is the real deal. We’re lucky to have such talented people join our settlement.”

“Yeah, I was worried at first, but I couldn’t be more grateful.”

Even though the road wasn’t paved, just like Sheila said, I didn’t feel any discomfort or fatigue at all.

Maybe it’s thanks to Ash’s steady handling, but I’m sure Rozzo’s wheels and Shid’s seats deserve most of the credit.

About an hour passed, marveling at the comfort of the ride, and soon a town came into view.

“That’s the town of Lanzore — the one with the magic academy.”

“It’s definitely smaller compared to the royal capital, but the city walls seem sturdier.”

“I’ve heard they had the help of some highly skilled mages during construction. I agree — the walls look even more impressive than the capital’s.”

It had this artistic flair to it, which was pretty captivating.

As I admired the majestic walls, the carriage came to a stop at the gate.

Since Ash, a Lizard Runner, was pulling the carriage, the soldiers seemed extra cautious, but the moment Sheila showed them her ID, they let us through immediately.

Apparently, the special ID the king gave us isn’t just for the capital — it grants you unrestricted passage to any town within the kingdom.

“We’re cleared to enter. There’s a place to park carriages just ahead on the right. They only asked us to make sure he doesn’t attack anyone.”

“I doubt he’d attack unless someone tried to harm him, but I’ll remind him just in case.”

So we parked the carriage at the designated spot and told Ash to wait quietly.

He immediately settled down to nap, so I figured he’d be fine without us worrying.

And with that, Sheila and I left Ash behind for now and set off to explore the town of Lanzore.
