Just another Isekai Lover~

Chapter 46: Grow Big!

I sowed seeds of Japanese mustard spinach, daikon radish, turnips, cabbage, and other vegetables in the field and watered them.

Thanks to Mimi’s hard work, there was still plenty of space left to plant more.

As I was wondering what to do next, Jude-san and Luna came to visit.

“Saki-saaaan!”

Luna beamed as Jude-san held her in one arm.

She was carefully holding a small basket in her hands.

“Luna.”

I wondered if it was okay for her to be out and about already.

But since Jude-san brought her, I guess that means it’s fine.

Luna was set down and walked up to me, stretching her arms out as far as she could to offer me the basket.

Inside were a bunch of vegetables.

“She insisted on delivering the newly grown vegetables herself…”

Jude-san smiled wryly.

I had actually been thinking of going to check on her soon, but it looks like she just couldn’t wait and came instead.

“Thank you, Luna.”

I crouched down to meet her gaze and thanked her.

These vegetables are probably precious to Luna since they’re for her to eat. But I understand the feeling of wanting someone who’ll enjoy them to have a taste of what you grew yourself. So, I accepted them with a smile.

I’m sure Martha-san made sure Luna’s portion was already set aside before packing these up.

“You’re welcome!”

Luna’s radiant smile was dazzling. Her silver hair sparkled under the sun, and the pale pink of her cat ears was almost translucent, showing her veins in the sunlight. It was ridiculously cute. Somehow, seeing her outside really highlights her cuteness.

Jude-san, as usual, was also ridiculously good-looking. What a beautiful pair of siblings.

Honestly, I was really grateful to receive vegetables from Luna.

Since I’m planning to go see Grandma Kaen, I think having a sample of the vegetables—like, this is the kind of seed I used—would really work in my favor.

Hmm? I feel Jude-san’s gaze on my shoulder…

“What’s that?”

He asked, his narrowed eyes clearly locked onto Mimi.

“This is Mimi the Lizard!”

Translator-san, I’ll leave the tone and phrasing up to you—just please emphasize that it’s a lizard. This is a lizard. T-H-I-S I-S A L- I- Z- A -R- D.

Though… would a lizard trigger Jude-san’s primal instinct or something?

Mimi, please behave.

“A lizard?”

He looked a bit suspicious, I think… but—

“It’s a lizard!”

Let’s just power through it.

“Luna. If you’re feeling well enough, would you mind doing a little ‘Grow Big!’ on this row and that one over there?”

I changed the subject and glanced at Jude-san to get his approval while asking Luna.

He gave a nod. Got the guardian’s permission—and successfully changed the topic!

“Okay!”

Luna responded enthusiastically, then began cheering on the crops in the field and waving her arms wildly.

“Grow biiig!”

In response to her voice, the seeds I had just planted sprouted, and slowly— as if in fast forward, they began to unfold their true leaves.

This is amazing.

And—

It wasn’t just the vegetables that grew.

Thanks to the whole Mimi shock situation, I had completely forgotten about the glittering tree—well, the plum tree now known as Hanakami. Its fruit had grown larger. But calling it the “glittering tree” is still easier to remember.

It even bloomed. Beautiful, frilly double-layered flowers with wavy petals that gradually became a deeper pink toward the center—it was incredibly cute.

Sorry… I totally forgot about you…

Now that I think about it, you *were* here…

“It… took it from me…”

Luna looked dejected.

Huh?

Did her green magic, which was meant for the vegetables, get absorbed by the sparkling tree?

If that’s the case…

Could the reason green magic wasn’t working well in this field be because of the glittering tree?

Whatever the case, making Luna feel down is unacceptable, you bad tree. I thought you were a good person!

Intent on giving it a piece of my mind, I approached the tree—and the scent of plum

blossoms reached me. Right, before it turned into a plum tree, it was glowing

golden.

It made me think of plum wine. I prefer smooth kōrui shochu made from heavenly feathers… it goes down so easily, and it’s delicious. I’ll treat myself next time I have some money left over.

I stood in front of the tree.

Translator-san, I’m counting on you. I already know this thing can understand me.

What should I call it? Is the label name fine?

“Hanakami-san. Did you suck up the green magic Luna cast on the field?

Because of that, Luna’s really sad, you know!”

“…I was simply… hungry…”

A voice said.

Whoa—“I” in the ‘warawa’ style, huh…

Well, if it’s a plum spirit or something, I guess an old-fashioned way of speaking makes sense.

And now…

I’ve got a bad feeling about this.

“You’re the one who woke me, are you not? I want you to take responsibility.”

Excuse me—what now!?

I have no memory of that!

You just sprouted on your own, didn’t you???

Wait… could it have been the chicken manure?

Was the chicken manure the cause?

In that case… did I bury this tree in chicken manure?

For a moment, I was really tempted to do that—pretend I never filled the tree with chicken manure, but reason told me it probably wasn’t an option.

I can feel Jude-san and Luna looking at me with concern as I talk to the tree…

I wonder what’s better in this kind of situation—speaking out loud or going full telepathy?

Well, for now, I have no choice but to talk to it.

“I’m not sure what you mean by responsibility…”

Seriously, what is even going on here?
