Just another Isekai Lover~

Chapter 296: The Aquatic God

Thanks to Urla’s clever idea, they had finally managed to trace a path to the centipede queen’s location.

With that major hurdle cleared, the rest of the task became significantly easier.

Led by Rest, with Urla and Isis following close behind, the trio proceeded deeper into the centipede nest.

“This way, huh…”

Before long, they reached the chamber where the centipede queen resided.

Just a little further ahead was a massive centipede, several times larger than the others, resting ominously in the room.

“Well then… We’re about to fight her. Are we all clear on the plan I shared earlier?”

“Yeah, I’m leaving it to you,” said Isis.

“No problem.”

Urla added.

With their approval, Rest nodded and began executing the strategy he had devised on the way there.

“If that thing starts rampaging underground, we could end up buried alive… Sorry, but I don’t plan on fighting her head-on.”

He didn’t know how strong the centipede queen was, but she likely wasn’t on the level of the magic beast Sabnock or the Elder Wyrm. Rest was confident he could defeat her.

The real danger was the potential collapse of the tunnel system if the queen started thrashing around.

Victory alone wasn’t enough this time—they needed a flawless victory.

Their goal was to completely suppress the enemy without allowing her any chance to resist.

“All right then… I need a little time to prepare. Cover me while I work.”

“Understood.”

“Will protect.”

“Okay… Water Sphere.”

Rest conjured a ball of water using magic.

“Amplify. Compress. Water Sphere. Amplify. Compress. Water Sphere. Amplify. Compress. Water Sphere. Amplify. Compress. Water Sphere. …”

He repeated the process over and over—creating a water sphere, amplifying it, and then compressing it.

What Rest was doing now was the same technique he’d used to defeat the Elder Wyrm previously.

The only difference was that he had used Fire Spheres back then. This time, he was using Water Spheres.

“With Water Control, I already know the layout and size of the chamber she’s in… I won’t overdo it like last time.”

Water Control was a spell that literally created and manipulated water.

By combining it with Presence Detection, he had already mapped out the room the queen occupied.

It was a wide chamber housing the queen and dozens of offspring. There were no other exits—this was a dead-end room.

“Okay… let’s do this. Divine Aquatic Creation: Watatsumi!”

Rest hurled the ultra-compressed water sphere into the queen’s chamber.

The enemy hadn’t yet noticed their presence. Before she could react, he cast another spell.

“Earth Wall!”

He rapidly created multiple thick walls of earth, sealing off the tunnel behind them.

He could faintly hear a splash from behind the barrier.

“Whoa… that’s awesome!”

“She’s going wild.”

Isis and Urla commented as they fended off smaller centipedes approaching from the opposite tunnel.

Behind the earth wall, the compressed water had exploded into a massive flood.

This time, unlike during the Wyrm fight, Rest wasn’t recklessly excited by meat or anything else—he had stayed calm and controlled the power with precision.

The water volume was calculated to perfectly fill the room—just enough to avoid creating excess pressure that could collapse the tunnel system.

Using Presence Detection, he sensed the queen writhing violently in the water.

She thrashed desperately, but the water absorbed most of the shock, preventing any structural collapse of the nest.

“Now that I think about it… some centipedes can swim. Glad this one wasn’t one of them.”

If the queen had been capable of surviving underwater, they would’ve needed a backup plan.

But that didn’t seem to be the case here—after a short time, she stopped moving, and Rest could tell she had died.

“Her presence is gone. Just to be safe, let’s hold position for a while…”

There were still lesser centipedes to deal with, and they would need to hunt down the stragglers.

As for retrieving the queen’s corpse, someone else would handle that later.

Rest continued casually dispatching centipedes as he made his way back to the surface.
