Chapter 110: Sheila’s Reaction

Sheila was lounging lazily on the living room sofa with Lime.
Apparently, she had been rereading One Piece while lying on top of the cool and squishy Lime—perfect timing.

“Sheila, I’ve finished buying the otherworldly entertainment items. If you’re not busy, would you like to come see them now?”

“Really? I was on volume 10, which I’ve reread so many times I’ve lost count, so I’m definitely not busy. Please, show me!”

“Of course. Let’s go, then.”

She slowly slid off Lime and responded enthusiastically.
If she was already rereading it, then an extra 50 volumes should definitely make her happy.

One Piece and Hunter x Hunter both get to some really good parts in those volumes.
Just like Velvet, Sheila might end up falling deep into the manga rabbit hole.

“Satou-san, you look like you’re having a lot of fun. Did you manage to get something really good?”

“Yes. I think you’ll really enjoy it too, Sheila.”

Apparently, I was grinning again, and Sheila looked at me with a fond smile.
I don’t think I used to show this much emotion when I was still in Japan.

Well, I didn’t really have anyone I could call a friend back in Japan, and there weren’t many things that genuinely brought me joy after coming to this world.
Even though everything here costs 30 times as much, and things are still far from how convenient life was in Japan, thanks to the people around me, life here feels at least 100 times more enjoyable.

Playing manga and games is fun, of course, but I’m more excited to see how Sheila and the others react.
With those thoughts in mind, Sheila and I left the villa and headed to the entertainment room next door.

“Wow! Look at all those manga lined up! Is that… could it be the continuation of the series I was reading?”

“Yes. I figured now was a good time to add 50 more volumes.”

“Fifty volumes at once…! I-I don’t think I’ll be able to sleep now, is that okay?”

“No, you must sleep! I plan to keep them here permanently, so it’s best to pace yourself—just a few volumes a day.”

I totally get the urge to binge, but as someone who used to be a corporate drone, I know how important sleep is. Pulling an all-nighter isn’t worth it.

“Muuu… I want to read them all, but you’re right. The books aren’t going anywhere. I’ll take my time and savor them over a few weeks.”

“That would be a huge help to me. Oh, and I also bought some games.”

“Games? Are they different from the board games we usually play?”

“I did get some more board games, but this time I bought something called a ‘video game.’ …Want to try it out?”

“Yes, please!”

Sheila was clearly excited, so I handed her the Nintendo Switch.
She tilted her head in confusion, not knowing how to use it—adorable.

“Press this top button to turn it on.”

“Oh! It turned on! The cute characters are moving so smoothly!”

“You control them with the left side and use these four buttons on the right to input commands.”

“Huh—ah, wait… this is pretty hard.”

She wasn’t used to the controls, and her movements were quite clumsy.
Sheila might dominate at board games, but it’s clear she’s still a beginner when it comes to video games.

“This is a fighting game. You win by knocking your opponent out of the arena. Think of it like a mock battle where you lose if you step out of the circle.”

“Got it! If you get hit, your damage increases, and if you land attacks, your opponent’s damage increases, right?”

“Exactly. The more damage someone has, the easier it is to send them flying when attacked.”

“That sounds like something I’d be good at! I’ll win for sure!”

Sheila was fired up, but after an intense match against a level 1 CPU opponent, she barely scraped out a win.
Honestly, losing to that level would be difficult, but she looked so happy I had to praise her.

“Wow! You won on your first try—that’s amazing!”

“—This is really fun! I do get a little frustrated that I can’t fight myself, but the characters have so many cool moves, and it’s super engaging! I don’t understand how any of it works, but otherworld tech really is amazing!”

“I’m glad you’re enjoying it. I don’t understand how it works either, so I feel exactly the same way—it’s truly impressive technology.”

“It’s so small, but the visuals are so clear! The manga was shocking, but this video game has surprised me even more!”

Sheila seemed to love it and went on to play a few more rounds against the CPU.
I wanted to play a match with her too, but with how experienced I am, it wouldn’t be a fair game until she gets more used to the controls.

Maybe Mario Party could level the playing field a bit…
Anyway, it was getting late today, so we’d leave that for another time.

“That’s about it for what I bought this time. It’s getting late, so let’s read more manga or play games again tomorrow.”

“I want to play more games and read more manga now! When I was living at the royal castle, the days felt so long… but since coming here, I can’t believe how short each day feels. And now with even more entertainment… I may need to learn how to clone myself!”

I chuckled at Sheila’s serious face saying ridiculous things, and decided to call it a night and head back to the villa.

I’m just happy she liked everything.
Knowing Sheila enjoys life here as much as I do makes me genuinely glad.
I hope I can keep making it more and more enjoyable using my skills.
