Chapter 83: Keema Curry

So, I quickly prepared a simple Japanese dish—Keema curry—using the leftover curry roux.

Keema curry is a highly recommended time-saving dish since it can be made with just ground meat, onions, and curry roux.

“Rozzo-san, Sid-san. The food is ready.”

“Whoa! That smells amazing!”

“It really does. Sato-san, you can cook?”

Both of them looked at the Keema curry with shining eyes.

Like regular curry, Keema curry isn’t exactly visually appealing, but it was good to see that they found it appetizing.

Once they got past any initial hesitation, I was sure the first bite would convince them.

“As a small token of appreciation, please enjoy.”

“Ah! I’m starving, so I’ll dig right in! Itadakimaaaasu! —Nguh! W-What the hell is this!? H-Hey, Sid, you gotta try this!!”

Rozzo took a bite, immediately stood up, and urged Sid to eat as well, clearly excited.

Seeing his reaction, I couldn’t help but grin—it seemed to be to his liking.

“I was going to eat it even if you didn’t tell me… —Nguh! W-What the hell… This is way too good.”

“Right?! I told you! This dish is insanely delicious!”

After that, Rozzo and Sid continued eating almost in silence, completely focused on their food.

Watching them, Sheila looked on enviously, so I decided to share some of the leftover Keema curry with her.

“C-Can I eat some too?”

“Of course. There’s only a little left, but please help yourself.”

“Thank you so much!”

As the three of them devoured the Keema curry with unwavering focus, I simply watched them with a smile.

I enjoy eating food myself, but seeing others happily savoring a meal is even more satisfying.

“Phew… That was incredible! Sato-san, you’re a cooking genius!”

“I wouldn’t say that.”

“No, you absolutely are. I may not look like it, but I’ve got money, and I’ve eaten at some of the best restaurants in the capital. But this dish you made was the best I’ve ever had.”

“Thank you for saying that. But really, it’s just good ingredients.”

“No need to be modest. Even I, who have been with you for a long time, think you’re a genius, Sato-san.”

Being showered with compliments like this was flattering, but also a little embarrassing, as always.

“Well, feel free to drop by anytime. If I have extra food, I’ll cook for you.”

“That’s great to hear. I was already happy just borrowing the DVD player, but now that I’ve had such an amazing meal… So, have you decided on what building you want constructed yet? We can start right away.”

Hmm…

I still haven’t decided on what kind of building I want.

It would be nice to have a house built in advance, but I also want a food storage facility, and maybe even a place dedicated purely to entertainment.

Since my plans weren’t completely finalized, I wasn’t ready to ask Shid for anything just yet.

“There are a few things I’d like to have built, but I haven’t settled on anything. The location is important too, so I want to think about it a bit more.”

“What kind of things are you considering? I’ll help however I can.”

“Well, at some point, I’d like to have a food storage facility. I need a place to keep harvested vegetables.”

“Hm… If it’s a food storage facility, we should build it right away. You’ll be putting it near the fields, right?”

“Yes, but I don’t actually have enough crops yet to justify a storage facility.”

“If you wait until you need it, it’ll be too late. I can start building it as early as tomorrow.”

Hmm… This is a tough decision.

Sid was right, and with Moji around, the fields were bound to expand rapidly.

Since he was willing to build it right away, it might be best to go ahead with it.

“Alright, if you’re willing, please go ahead. I’ll show you the exact location tomorrow.”

“Got it. I’ll get started first thing tomorrow. Rozzo, you’re helping too.”

“Of course! After a meal this good, I’ll work for Sato-san and Sheila any day.”

“Then let’s talk later about what else you want built so I can finish it before the storage is done.”

“You got it! Gahaha, I haven’t felt this fired up in a while!”

Rozzo and Sid were completely on board, even bumping fists in excitement.

Just the other day, they had been introduced as brothers with a bad relationship, but right now, they looked like the best of friends.

…Honestly, they probably got along just fine.

“Well, we’ll head out for now. The DVD player’s still charging, but we’ll be back tomorrow, so we’ll take it with us for now.”

“Oh, I think it’s fully charged. Either way, I’ll return it to you.”

I handed back the DVD player, which had been charging via generator, and saw them off.

They had originally just dropped by to charge their device, yet they ended up helping with the fence and even agreed to build the food storage. I couldn’t be more grateful.

“Thank you for everything today. I look forward to tomorrow as well.”

“We should be thanking you. Seriously, thanks again.”

“The secret DVD was amazing, and the food was out of this world! Sato-san, you’re the best!”

“Come visit anytime.”

“Absolutely! Hell, once I save enough money, maybe I’ll move here! This place has so much potential for growth!”

“I don’t know if it’ll develop that much, but you’re always welcome, Rozzo-san.”

With those parting words, Rozzo and Sid left.

Right now, there were only five residents here, but with more tamed monsters, things were gradually expanding.

If I could develop the place a bit more and get a regular Snowdia transport line running between here and the capital, things would really start thriving… but that was still a ways off.

Maybe I should bring it up with Velvet sometime.
