Just another Isekai Lover~

Chapter 195: Accepting the One You Admire

While Rest was tasting an inexplicable defeat at Yuri’s hands, elsewhere, in a room within the central building of the eastern settlement, a young girl sighed deeply.

“Haah…”

Her flushed cheeks resting against her hand and her eyes glistening, the one sighing was Urla Lavender. She was the eldest daughter of the Lavender Margrave family and the overseer of the family’s settlement efforts.

On the table in front of her, covered with lace, rested a transparent crystal ball. The image within the crystal ball displayed Rest, sitting across from Yuri as they shared breakfast in a scene filled with closeness and warmth.

“Haah… so beautiful today too…”

“……”

Behind Urla stood a young woman, likely in her mid-twenties, who had attended to Urla since childhood with great care. Her name has never been mentioned before, but she was Early Purple, a loyal retainer of the Lavender Margrave family.

Early came from a family of vassals serving the Lavender family. Her father had been a childhood friend of Urla’s father, the man who was supposed to inherit the family title but mysteriously disappeared. Following her mother’s flight and left with only her vengeful grandfather, Urla had no remaining close family. To her, Early had become like an older sister.

“Milady, may I ask you something?”

“Haaah…”

“What do you find enjoyable about watching the man you admire spend time with another woman?”

Early asked the question knowingly, fully expecting no answer.

For some time now, Urla had been deeply enamored with Rest. For someone like Urla, who had been shaped into a doll-like existence by her grandfather’s oppressive teachings, this was her first obsession, her first experience of raw emotion.

Early, who genuinely cared for Urla, generally welcomed this change. However, it wasn’t without its problems. Rest already had a fiancée and seemed to be friendly with other women as well.

Urla, who hadn’t even established a meaningful relationship with him yet and was much younger, appeared to be at a significant disadvantage.

“I don’t mind… I’ll accept it. My favorite.”

“I see.”

“Everything. Acceptance… because he’s beautiful.”

“I understand. That’s how it is.”

Without lifting her gaze from the crystal ball, Urla spoke. Her words seemed more like fragmented thoughts than an explanation, yet Early easily grasped her meaning.

“So, in other words, accepting the person you admire for who they are is true love. It’s not about imposing your desires on them, but about valuing their happiness and praying for it. That is what it means to be a devoted admirer, correct?”

“Yes.”

Urla gave a short reply to Early’s interpretation.

It seemed there was no need for lengthy explanations between the two, who shared a unique understanding.

“So beautiful… so radiant. It’s expanding…”

“Indeed, it is. That is wonderful.”

“Good… so very good…”

In the crystal ball, Rest and Yuri were sharing a meal. Despite Rest’s inexplicably disgruntled expression, a bond between the two could be felt, even if their relationship hadn’t been long.

“I… like him…”

“That is lovely. A wonderful thing, indeed.”

Although it could appear to be a fruitless infatuation, Early did not try to deny it. If the word “fruitless” were to be applied, it would better describe Urla’s life up until now.

Urla’s grandfather, Luther Lavender VI—infamously known as “Luther the Loser”—was a man consumed by hatred for the eastern empire. To him, his children and grandchildren were nothing more than tools of revenge.

Compared to being used and discarded by Luther, it was far better for Urla to indulge in her current, albeit obsessive, love.

“Milady, I have prepared your breakfast.”

“Mmm…!”

The breakfast Early brought was the exact same menu as the one Rest was eating, right down to the brand of tea.

“…Together, eating.”

“Yes. By eating the same meal, you can simulate the feeling of sharing breakfast with him. I am honored it pleases you.”

“Mmm… smart.”

Urla eagerly began taking bites of her meal.

“……”

Watching Urla eat in the same order and timing as Rest, Early silently wiped at the corners of her eyes.
