Chapter 315: Everyone Sits Properly

After finishing discussing the events of the snow mountain investigation with Giles and Christopher, I left the training ground. Cain-niisan and sister-in-law Mika invited me to train with them, but I had to decline.

Now, there’s no one to stop me. There are few onlookers, but even so, it would be problematic if I were to beat Cain-niisan in a swordsmanship match. Cain-niisan pouted, but I chose to ignore it.

Nero didn’t say anything. Could it be that Nero isn’t confident I’ll beat Cain-niisan? This is troubling.

“Julius-sama, what are your plans from here?”

“I want to head to the greenhouse and check the cultivation status of the materials for the basic stamina recovery potions. If necessary, I’ll have to increase the amount.”

Nero’s smile became strained. Nero had looked eager for the basic stamina recovery potions earlier. I suppose he feels guilty. It’s fine if he uses them; as long as they aren’t consumed before the stock runs out.

I arrived at the greenhouse. Even in winter, it was warm, and lush plants were in full bloom.

“It seems the greenhouse is functioning without any issues. Just to be safe, I’ll check the magical tools.”

“The warmth here is amazing even in winter.”

“Yeah. I think it performs better than the greenhouse in the royal castle.”

The maintenance of the greenhouse isn’t just my job; Rosalia also takes care of it. Rosalia doesn’t seem interested in magical potions, but she likes flowers. Therefore, she often visits the greenhouse, which has flowers blooming all year round, as part of her strolls.

“There don’t seem to be any problems with the magical tools. There’s nothing in particular to do. As for the cultivation status… it might be a good idea to increase the amount a bit.”

It’s time for my “Cultivation” and “Transplantation” skills to come into play after a long time. With the plant nutrients available, they should grow quickly and be ready for harvest. I quickly planted new crops in the available space, watered them with magic, and applied the plant nutrients. All set. Grow well.

“This greenhouse is starting to feel a bit cramped.”

“Julius-sama, you can do farm work too, huh?”

“Of course. If you want good materials, it’s quickest to grow them yourself.”

I gave Nero a big smile, but for some reason, Nero’s smile looked strained. Is it odd for a noble to be covered in dirt and doing farm work? But I think it’s important to connect with the soil.

While considering further expansion of the greenhouse, I returned to the mansion. Since I had gathered the necessary materials during my visit to the greenhouse, I’ll use them to make additional basic stamina recovery potions. The entire mansion will be out of function in the morning anyway.

With Nero’s help, I produced a large quantity of basic stamina recovery potions in the alchemy room. Of course, we also sampled the finished product together. Quality checks are important, after all. Yep, refreshing and invigorating!

I took some of the completed potions to the kitchen, naturally for everyone to use.

“Chef, I’ve brought some additional potions. Oh, but while I brought them, there’s no place to put them, is there?”

“Thank you, Julius-sama. No need to worry. After all, the food storage of the Baron of Hine’s family is quite spacious. We can easily store this amount.”

As I spoke with the chef, the other cooks arrived and were pleased as well. According to them, it looks like everyone will be able to have lunch together. This is a chance to make everyone sit straight and scold them.

I went to the dining hall first to wait, and soon Alex-niisan and sister-in-law Daniela arrived. They saw my face and averted their gazes awkwardly.

“Good morning. Alex-niisan, sister-in-law Daniela.”

“G-Good morning, Julius.”

“Good morning, Julius-chan.”

“It seems you had fun yesterday.”

When I smiled brightly, the two of them showed strained smiles. It’s rare for them to be in such a position since they are usually the ones to stop things. Maybe they were quite stressed? If so, it might be my responsibility that they let loose so much.

“Could it be that the procedures for setting up the trading company have been causing you stress? If so, that’s my responsibility. I’m sorry.”

“Julius, it’s not like that. You always cause us other kinds of stress.”

Alex-niisan was quite blunt. Well, I won’t deny it. I’m sure I’ll continue to cause them stress. I should probably provide some stomach medicine just in case.

“Alex, that doesn’t provide any comfort at all. We finally have a prospect for establishing the trading company. The personnel are also coming together. I reported this to father yesterday, so it seems I relaxed a bit.”

Sister-in-law Daniela said this somewhat bashfully. Was there such a conversation after we left? Seeing that she reported it where we weren’t present, it seems she might not want to make it public just yet.

Well, if the local lord tries to set up a trading company, the merchants would probably find out and start promoting various things. This could lead to increased work and complications, potentially delaying the establishment of the trading company. It’s understandable to want to avoid that. It was a good decision to put the sports drink on hold.

“So that’s how it is. Congratulations. I’m happy for you as well.”

“Thank you, Julius-chan.”

“However, that’s that, and this is this. Overindulgence in alcohol and food isn’t good.”

When I smiled, the two of them quickly averted their gazes. It seems they’re aware it’s not okay. If this is just a one-time thing, it’s fine, but if it happens every time there’s a milestone or event for the trading company, it could become a problem.

“I’ll be careful next time, Julius-chan.”

“I’ll be careful too. It would be nice if there was a potion that could make you wake up refreshed the next day, no matter how much you drank or ate.”

“…”

“There is one, isn’t there?”

“There is, Julius-chan.”

There is one, but I’m unsure if it’s okay to make such a potion. I’m a bit hesitant.
