Just another Isekai Lover~

Chapter 276: Secret Power

Today was a bit warm, perfect weather for an outing. As the sun rose, more and more people seemed to be coming and going on the main street.

In the afternoon, we would finally head to one of the main events of the day, the jewelry store. Should we go there first or last? Since I want Miss Fabienne to take her time choosing, perhaps it’s better to go there first.

"Miss Fabienne, after we finish our meal, I was thinking of heading to the jewelry store. Is there anywhere else you’d like to go first?"

"N-no, I’m fine with your plan, Julius-sama."

Miss Fabienne blushed slightly and looked down. It seems that a jewelry gift is something special for a woman. I can’t afford to disappoint her. I need to pay close attention to her reactions.

After finishing the dessert from our lunch and letting our food settle, we headed to the jewelry store.

It was a jewelry store recommended by my sister-in-law, Daniela. Apparently, it had recently opened a branch here from the royal capital. It's a super famous store that everyone in the royal capital knows. Of course, I didn’t know that.

Beyond the brand-new metal door, a glittering world awaited.

The interior of the store was not particularly spacious. However, because there were many mirrors on the walls, it didn’t feel cramped. Looking around, it seemed we were the only children there.

I felt a bit out of place, but a man must have courage. I put on an indifferent face.

"It’s my first time here. I’ve heard it’s a famous store in the royal capital."

"As expected of Miss Fabienne. You knew about it."

I pretended as if I knew about it too. Alex-niisan had said that it’s not good to appear uninterested in jewelry. I need to be careful.

"If you see something you like, please don’t hesitate to let me know."

"Yes, understood."

She said this somewhat reservedly. Noticing her hesitant manner, I glanced at the prices. Are they high? Since I usually have no interest in jewelry, I’m not sure. I do know they’re more expensive than the magic tools sold around here.

We looked around the store. Necklaces, rings, earrings, and even bracelets. There were also hair ornaments. The gentlemen and ladies in the store looked at us with eyes that seemed amused.

Maybe they thought we were just browsing? But I’m serious about buying something.

While talking with Miss Fabienne and looking at the showcases, she stopped in front of the ring section. I quickly checked where her gaze was. She seemed to be looking at a ring with some kind of inscription on it. And it was a pair.

So, she wants a matching ring for us? Got it.

"Let's have a look at that ring."

"Huh? Yes, of course."

Miss Fabienne seemed a bit flustered, perhaps not expecting me to notice. It really stirred up a protective instinct in me. I called over the clerk to take out the rings.

The two rings, placed on dark blue velvet, were made primarily of gold. In the flat groove running halfway around the center, there seemed to be some kind of inscription.

"It has an unusual pattern."

"These are inscribed with characters found in ancient ruins. Each one is crafted by our company’s artisans, so they can't be mass-produced."

The clerk subtly highlighted their rarity. The price was moderate. Since there were no gemstones, the cost was kept down.

However, the rings were inscribed with ancient characters. It would have been nice if they had some special effect, but that didn’t seem to be the case. If there was, the clerk would have mentioned it.

I observed the rings closely. Then it struck me. Couldn’t these be used in some way? If I could add "tracking" and "communication" functions to these matching rings, they would be incredibly useful in case anything happened to Miss Fabienne. The downside is that I’d come off as a "jealous man" constantly monitoring her whereabouts. But compared to her safety, that’s a minor detail.

The most convenient part is the ancient script inscribed on them. If anything happened, I could blame it all on the characters. What a perfect plan. The fact that Miss Fabienne liked them was also a big plus.

"Shall we try them on?"

"Yes, let’s."

The rings weren’t completely closed, allowing for some size adjustment. That seemed to be one of the reasons Miss Fabienne chose them.

She wanted a ring but was concerned about her finger size changing as she grew. This way, it wouldn’t be a problem.

We placed the rings on each other's ring fingers and held our hands up.

"Yes, it's quite nice."

"Hehe, we're matching."

She looked incredibly happy! Just like when I gave her the matching necklace last time. I have to buy these. The price is reasonable, they're not too flashy, and I can even add a little extra! Wonderful!

"I'll purchase these. For both of us, of course."

"Is that really okay?"

Miss Fabienne's face lit up. I wanted to see that look. I smiled warmly and, with a calm voice that exuded gentlemanly charm, said,

"Of course."

"Thank you for your purchase!"

The clerk rubbed his hands together in satisfaction. I gave Nero a signal to take care of the payment. Now, these rings were ours. All that was left was to discreetly add the functions. However, it would be difficult to take Miss Fabienne's ring from her here. So...

I carefully, so that no one would notice, added the "tracking" and "communication" functions to the ring on my finger, using the ancient script already inscribed on it. The ring glowed slightly, but no one seemed to notice. Perfect.

"Miss Fabienne, um, would you mind if we exchanged rings? That way, um..."

"O-of course!"

Blushing, Miss Fabienne offered her ring. While apologizing in my heart for toying with her feelings, I slipped the ring I had just enchanted onto her ring finger.

Mission complete. Now, I just needed to add the same functions to the ring that came to my hand.

As Nero returned after making the payment, we left the store.
