Just another Isekai Lover~

Chapter 31: Spinning Around

My offering was gone in no time.

The portions had been collected in large numbers, some provided by the government and some donated by donors. Next to those boxes, Henry casually placed them side by side, saying, “I received this one from a donor, too.”

A large tent had been set up at the site, and a doctor had also been there. People who were sick or injured were gathered in the tent.

I was impressed by the speed and familiarity of the response, and Sophia and Karin came to thank me for the food.

“The food was very delicious and we really appreciate it. We  didn't have time to cook, so this really helped,” said Karin, bowing her head. Sophia was looking down, looking less energetic than usual.

“Other than a few houses that were washed away, all we got was muddy water in our house. Not a single person was swept away.”

“That was a blessing in disguise.”

“Our most precious asset is our own lives. Everyone quickly evacuated during the rain. We were saved this time by the wizard’s presence, but it must have been in that condition in the middle of winter, right? We had braced ourselves for the elderly and children to collapse. We were truly grateful that the barrier was created.”

Karin-san looks tired from the cleanup. Sophia looks down and her expression is gloomy.

“You don’t look so good, Sofia-chan.”

“Fee-chan, I want to go to Mai-tan’s house.”

“Sophia! You’re being so selfish again!”

Sophia hugged me as we stood there talking.

“Sophia-chan? What’s wrong?”

“Grandma will be angry.”

“I get mad when you don’t keep your promises. Come on, let’s go home.”

Sophia hunched her back, bowed her head and left. She looks so wilted that the song “Dona Dona” plays in my head. It must be hard to teach a three-year-old to follow rules. Good luck, Karin-san and Sophia-chan.

I pull the cart back down the muddy road.

Henry pulled the heavy cart on the way there. The wheels got stuck in the mud many times, but each time Henry lifted me up and helped me out. I was lucky because there were people around and I couldn’t just magically make the road hard.

“I knew this would happen, so I rushed over.”

"You saved me. Thank you very much. You really are a capable man."

“Such a small thing ……”

The embarrassed Henry is adorable, and has changed quite a bit from the "cool and competent civil servant" image he had when he first started coming to the store.

I arrived home and parted ways with Henry, who said he still had work to do. First, I took a bath. I put a lot of citrus peels in the bathtub, so it smelled good.

Citrus fruits sold in the market are not as sweet as Japanese ones and have many seeds, but I am grateful to use both the fruit and the peel. I make juice with the flesh and dry the peel and use it by floating it in hot water.

I soaked in the water slowly until I was sweating before getting out.

I was drying my hair in my bathrobe when I heard a soft knock at the door. It was late, so I first opened the curtains a little to see who was behind the door.

“No way!”

I rushed to open the door. Sophia was standing there. She was wearing a one-piece nightgown without a coat, even though it was the middle of winter.

“What’s wrong? Where’s your father? Where’s your  Grandma?”

“Fee-chan, I'm here alone."

“So late at night! And so lightly dressed!”

Unexpectedly, I lifted her up in my arms. When I picked up her cold body, she was very heavy. I tried to carry her in my arms, but after three steps I gave up and put her down. I didn't know a three-year-old could be this heavy. She must have weighed about 15 kilograms. It was amazing that Mr. Dion was doing plastering work while carrying this weight on his back.

“Short temper Grandma is also scary”

“if you say you don’t like them, your father and grandmother will cry.”

Since I have no way to contact her, I have no choice but to go to Sophia’s house. It’s late at night and cold. I feel it’s dangerous to go out at night with a little girl, but I can’t just leave her like this.

“Sophia, will you go home with me?”

“No. Fee-chan, Fee-chan, I don’t want to go.”

“What happened?”

She doesn’t answer, her hands clasped together and her mouth tightly closed. Her eyes were moist with tears. She had never been like this when I was taking care of her. I thought she was a very obedient child, but I didn’t know she had this side to her.

“I’m sure your father is worried right now and searching for you.”

”I can’t do it.”

Sophia ran over to the two-seater sofa in the corner of the store, climbed onto it, and curled up like a dung beetle, not moving. There was no way I could carry her home in my arms.

“Sofia, come with me now…”

“I have a tummy ache.”

“eh”

 Sophia-chan is holding her tummy.

“Where does it hurt?”

“Here.”

She said her lower belly hurt. I had her lie on her back on the two-seater sofa. When I was a child and complained of stomach pain, my mother and grandmother would rub my stomach in a "s" shape. Remembering this, I tried to imitate them, but she didn’t like that either, saying it hurt too much.

“My stomach hurts. It hurts.”

Tears well up in her eyes. It seems like it really hurts. What should I do? Make a potion and make her drink it? Would she drink that disgusting stuff? If her stomach hurts, it would be even more difficult.

As I was rubbing Sophia’s back and waist, feeling at a loss as to what to do, I felt something shifting underneath her clothes.

I almost screamed, but bit my lip and held back.

Something was moving under her loose-fitting one-piece dress. Scary, scary, scary! As I watched with my heart pounding, the hem of the one-piece nightgown was lifted up and a tail popped out. Hair quickly began to grow on the plump thighs that were sticking out from the lifted hem of the skirt. The shape of her body was also changing. I was overwhelmed by this transformation which I was seeing for the first time.

(This is... this is)

“My clothes are tight. They’re too tight.”

“Okay. I’ll take them off now, so don’t cry.”

Apparently her shoulders and arms were being pulled by her clothes, preventing her from moving. I was careful to remove her clothes so as not to damage her shoulder joints. If she hadn’t been wearing loose-fitting pajamas, I might not have been able to remove them.

  Illustrations (By Mitemin)

It’s the size of a three-year-old child, but it’s a puppy with thick legs and a round head. It’s about three heads tall.

This puppy is a mix of black, white and brown, and is sure to grow into a cool, beautiful dog in the future.

The puppy’s front legs are light brown, the same color as her human hair.

Sophia expresses her desperation in the form of a puppy.

“My tummy hurts. I have to go poopie.”

“Uh, uh, what do I do? Hey, wait! Wait a minute! Let’s go outside. Let’s go!”

she sniffed and began to spin around, sniffing the floor.

she’s looking for a place to poop! Come to think of it, this kid was just potty trained!

I picked up the fluffy body and ran to the backyard.

Sophia, the dog, who seemed to have recovered from her stomachache after doing her business, was now rapidly turning back into a human being. That’s so fast! Mr. Henry was not so fast. She would be naked in this cold weather.

I hurried back to the house, this time carrying her under my arm like a piece of luggage, and quickly dressed her.

I was panting while Sophia had a refreshed look on her face.

(Grandma, this world is full of surprises.)

“So, Sophia, you’re a Canine-type beastman.”

“Beastman?”

“You don’t know that word…”

“Grandma gets mad when I go woof woof.”

Ah, that’s how it is. If this little cutie were to go out and turn into a puppy or back into a human, it’s too dangerous. She’d be taken away. No wonder her family is worried.

“Grandma gets mad and says it’s no good.”

“It’s not that she’s angry. She’s worried.”

“I didn’t do it on purpose!”

“Yeah. I know that it wasn’t on purpose. I can understand that.”

If I don’t get him back home soon, there will be a commotion. Or maybe it’s already happening. Sophia’s eyes are half-closed and she’s starting to doze off. Stop it.

“Sophia-chan, don’t fall asleep. Don’t go to sleep yet. Come home with me, okay?”

I shake her shoulder, but she only opens her eyes halfway. She doesn’t reply. How does a toddler switch off so abruptly? she was just talking to me right now? I can’t believe it. She really fell asleep.

Well. I’ve got to get her on the cart and transport her away. I feel sorry for the family if I don’t hurry.

Dona Dona”, popularly known as “Donna, Donna”, is a song about a calf being led to slaughter, written by Sholom Secunda and Aaron Zeitlin
